The wood and built quality is superior and well worth the extra cash and also the resell value is much higher on an original Japanese made Esp than an ltd 1000 model. The Eclipse is a really cool guitar and comes in lots of variations! You can get them with thin or thick bodies, active or passive pickups, with or without tremolos and in lots of diffrent colors + they are easier to play on than a regular les paul! May 29 2009, 12:19 PM	Learning Tone Master Posts: 3.185 Joined: 22-June 07 From: Germany	The Esp and Ltd1000 series are really close in terms of the specs but if you look at the ESP you have the more expensive Ebony fretboard wich makes a hughe diffrence in sound, a maple cap which gives you more highs, better hardware whcih will result in a better tuning stability... The most important diffrence is the built quality though! As I said before the woods on the Esp are just better quality and the craftsmanship is also better. You can replace almost anything on a guitar but you can't replace the woods or how it was built so I would think twice not to get the best possible for a couple of hundred bucks more...
