Hey buddy!
You got some things wrong: with your fretting hand you mute only the strings BELOW the one you are fretting. Sweeping is a whole new dimension of muting because it's really fast and you have a lot of things going on so you need both left and right hand to work on it. Muting always works like this: with your left hand you mute the strings below the one you play, and with the right hand you mute all the strings above the one you play. Of course you can't take it as 2+2=4 because sometimes it will be 2+2=3, you know what i mean? Playing is more than just a formula to follow. There are always exceptions and you'll find it with time and experience Please shoot more questions if this was not enough -------------------- "It isn't how many years you have been playing, it's how many hours." -- Prashant Aswani "PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE!" -- Michael Angelo Batio Check out my video lessons and instructor board! |

Actually it's quite naturally so you don't have to pay some extra attention to it. If you fret a note you will notice that the index finger is touching all the strings below the one you play
