Can we improvise or do we need to play your arsenal of licks Gabe ?

I just tried for the first time to record my git with POD X3 live directly through USB to Mixcrat. Used your backtrack and improvised a bit just for fun. It seems I will be using this method to record myself and incorporate Vegas Pro 9 video editor for full a/v rec.

Here is my doodling biggrin.gif

Hi Michael! Welcome to a Collaboration! smile.gif

You have to download the backing track that I shared in this thread and record a solo over it. Then you post here a link to download 2 audio files and 1 video file.

Audio file 1: your solo + the backing track (mixed)
Audio File 2: only your solo
Video File: A video of you playing the solo.

The audio files can be .wav or .mp3 (at least 192 kbits). I preffer .mp4 videos but you can send me your more comfortable option. If it's possible please upload everything to rapidshare and post it here.

Then I will do something like this with everybody's takes:

Let me know if you have any other question of if you need help with the process. It would be great to have you on this one! smile.gif

ok, this is cool, i have Mixcraft 5 and Movieplus from serif, I already recorded myself on it just now and it looks awesome HD, so my only problem is i'm not as good as you guys, but will try and give it a shot..but I guess I will be the beginner in the group, unless you require me to be a proficient player..

Here is the audio for my Take smile.gif Video coming up!

I tried to fight the urge to "Shred" and tried to focus more on balancing the lead against the backing and playing off of and with the melody/harmony to create a more "melodic" lead that I typically might play. After all, Slash has a very melodic style so I was really trying to emulate that. I like how it ended up! Hope you guys do to smile.gif

Posted by: Gabriel Leopardi Mar 25 2012, 09:00 PM

Hi guys! This is the final mix and comments for this collab! Thanks Todd & Gitarrero for taking the take to record a solo over this one! smile.gif

Todd:
Great melodic lines and tone mate! You don’t use to record this type of solos and let me say that you should add more of this to your playing. Your feeling and phrasing on this one is very enjoyable. At the same time it sound original for me, it’s not very Slash style, it’s something different but also cool. I like your tone on this one, and I think that this time the FX is set exactly how I would set it. Great job! Thanks for joining!

Gitarrero:
Hi German Guy! smile.gif Thanks for joining this one as always! I must say that this is my favourite take from you for my collabs. You improved something that I used to comment in every solo that you recorded for my collabs. You really used different note values and durations. This makes the solo really fun to hear. I like the two moments that you generated in your solo, a first one played with staccato and a second one with longer notes and longer solos. Every note sound in scale and nice over each chord. Your tone is good but I added some delay to make it sound smoother with the backing track. Congrats for this take mate!

This is the final video!

Turned out GREAT! Thanks for putting this together smile.gif I tried to stretch a bit and focus more on Melody and Feel than I usually do and give a bit more attention to each note with Vibrato and placement, ring time, etc. Glad you liked it!

CHRISTIAN: I'm digging your solo! Nicely played man wink.gif

I just had a great idea! How about a "Dual Instructor Collab"? Where we both work on a backing? And both give feedback? What do you think Gab?

Posted by: Gitarrero Mar 30 2012, 03:14 PM

Thank you very much guys!
Gab: I really tried to implement what you told me many times before this time, glad it worked out well biggrin.gif

A two instructor collab would be pretty awesome!

Todd, great solo, it is cool to see you play melodic stuff smile.gif
