Never heard about them (not surprisingly as I don't listen to this genre much) but I love it! I love the complex bass/guitar tapping lines that work so well together. Also the video seems to be on the "cheap" side though it looks awesome! smile.gif

Why hate this band? They are not my cup of tea, but there's nothing bad about them as far as I can see. Pretty complex playing.

Wow! I dig em smile.gif Never heard of them before now, but yea great playing, nice and heavy, uber complex, all around good stuff. Kinda reminds of Cryptopsy mixed with Necrophagist and seasoned with Cannibal Corpse. Nice!

Wow, this is intense. I like arrangements, they are complicated, very progressive. I usually dislike these kinds of vocals, but this guy has relatively pleasant color.

I just don't get this style of vocals. Most of the time, even if I don't like a type of music, I can appreciate and recognize the talent and ability involved. This style of singing...I just don't get. Insane guitar work though!

Its an amazing source of venting laugh.gif I appreciated it even more when I started to do it. I usually record vocals when I have a really bad day, best time do it. smile.gif

My question is...can you honestly tell me that you can understand the vocals when you hearing them being sung? I see the aggression involved and the venting aspect...but what is the point of writing lyrics when you can't be understood?

Honestly, Yes. Sometimes a word or two gets lost but after so many years of it, you just get used to it, and learn how to listen to it. Most people who growl and scream I can understand just fine, there are a few exceptions of course, with the way they pronounce certain words and such, but the same rules applies to "clean" singing as well. Screaming and growling can embody a massive amount of emotion and passion just as clean singers, you just have to have the ear to hear it.

EDIT.

And yes, I can understand Brain Drill, although when I first heard them I had to read the lyrics in the CD booklet, but once I got used to his voice, it wasn't a problem.

A little OT but following on from Uncreator's comment about understanding the lyrics...

Opera singers are supposed to sing in a clear and understandable manner but clarity of diction doesn't mean that it will be understood. There's two occasion I know of:

1/ where a male tenor forgot the words to a major and well known aria during a performance and so he made it up. Audience didn't notice.

If you think that is bad here's a worse one.

2/ An opera company sang an entire major production in French whilst the on-screen video had the lyrics up in Italian. The original libretto is in Italian and performances and recording usually also. This was at a major opera house by a major company and the audience included a large number of critics. Only 1 critic commented.

That's an interesting theory.... but I do challenge anyone to listen to Ackercocke and decipher the words !!! ohmy.gif You can make out the odd 'SATAAAAN' or 'Lucifer' or 'Baphomet' but that's about it ! smile.gif Do like them though !

I actually saw this video about half a year ago and I laughed and showed all my friends and we had a great laugh about it. Not to say I disrespect your tastes, but I think this kind of stuff is funny
