I'd rather have you take a wee bit more time and get things done awesomely than rush and not get the good stuff going slow is ALWAYS good and another thing, have you tried to sing the lead parts? Here's what I suggest: record a take with everything up to the nasty lick and work on it for two weeks, by increasing 3 BPM/ day so that you may nail it right.
