I've been needing drum software for a long time.
I think I decided on EZdrummer, and maybe some expansions.

Do anyone know and reccomend Drumkit from hell and MetalheadsEZX?
Do I need anything extra to use the programs fully, like Reaper or something I have to buy?
I read that installing and registration is difficult, but that is just something you do only once off course.
I have DFH in EZD and love it. It's a must if you want metal. You get the action of double kick. I often change patterns anyway. Reaper is a great program to use. You can skim through this video I made for the tutorial ofhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qf-QvpAHfzc. Maybe it will give you an idea of how this works.
I have to agree with the idea that yes you really need at least DFH. It's a must have expansion pack if you wanna play heavy music. Also, the MIDI packs containing wads of extra metal drum bits are worth a look. Thy are only about 30 bux each.
Also, have a look at BFD ECO it was about 30 bux last time I checked and is actually far more feature rich than EZ drummer out of the box. I dig EZ drummer and have DFH and several midi packs. All said and done it's easily a couple hundred bux even on sale. But for 30, BFD eco sounds amazing all by itself. It's a bit more complex but it's got more to it as well. You don't have to add wads of extra plugins in your DAW just to make the drums sound decent. With EZdrummer, I usually have to add several plugins to punch up the drum sound.

Damn it all to hell... this is hard.
I found a really good prize from Amazon.com, but they will not ship.
I have to use Amazon.uk and that is at almost double the price.
And now I see, there is also some expansion called Metal machine EZX

So I haven't really decided after all.
I'll search more prices
I used it some time ago. Really has lot of expansions and it's a pleasure to work with Ez. All of the recommendations.
EZ-drummer is finally on it's way from UK.
The expansions are not that expensive in a shop in Copenhagen.
Now I just have to decide which one(s) to get, I'll let you know and share some samples then.
From what I can read different places on the net, I ougth to buy the MetalHeadsEZX with my preferred genres.
I really recommend that you buy all the MIDI packs from Toontrack. They are cheap, and very good!
I got EZ-drummer now.
But... how the hell do I get it to play audio in Reaper.
How do I open EZ in Reaper?
Under plugin settings, what do i put there? C:\Program Files\Toontrack;C:\Program Files\Toontrack
I tried watching some videos on this, but they have different versions of Reaper.
I changed the path, and some other hokus pokus, and with a little help from Todd it now works,
Edit: And now nothing else works, Media player, youtube...
Second edit: Everything works again when I close reaper, I can live with that I think.
I'll ask elsewhere also, but while you're all on the topic...
What's a good program for non-metal beats? Funky, jazz, country, etc... I'm pretty new to recording, and haven't figured out that part yet. I'm using a KB37 (Line 6) interface/midi controller, the AbletonLite that came with it. But I also have Reaper and Audacity, and a very limited Riffworks software.
Thanks!
Ez Drummer is awesome, but Addictive Drums is worth a look also I have it, and it sounds pretty good.
Skip amazon, and skip trying to buy it in a box, just go to TOONTRACK.com and buy it direct! Unless you find it half off, skip the hassle.
