Hey guys I have a quick questions regarding chord progressions and passing tones in rhythm.
Looking at the rhythm in this little song I'm working on: https://soundcloud.com/stortzmusic/hear-our-cries-new So the basic chord progression is B Minor A Major B Minor D Major However I throw in some extra notes which turns the A Major into an Asus4 and the D Major into a Dsus4 So my question is would the chord progression still remain B Minor A Major B Minor D Major with those extra notes (i.e. would they just be considered passing tones)? EDIT: Also, if they are just considered passing tones - is it okay if those passing tones are outside of the scale? In this case they are not, but for future reference. Thanks! Yeah, still the same chords. You don't necessarily have to notate them and they're not really passing tones - that's for melody. They're called ornaments or extensions (alterations if outside the key).
If you wanted to you could notate it as | Bm | A Asus | Bm | D Dsus | If the notes are outside of the key center you'd do the same but with whatever alteration it is. -------------------- - Ken Lasaine
