Hello fellow GMC'ers!
I'm in the market for a new amp and got stuck on the Vox digital/tube hybrid AD100VT.

Anyone here that have tried one?

Is this a good amp you think?
It will be used when practicing with our hobby band but it is possible that there might be gig situations in the future (if i manage to get any good).
We play 60's and 70's rock/hard rock but we might want to do more heavy stuff as well.

I have the VOX AD30VT and am more than happy with it.
Its LOUD too - I cannot imagine how loud the 100 will be - do you play stadiums regularly?

It took me a long time to learn to use it correctly - I used to rely too much on the presets until I found a great site that has patch settings and from there I learnt to use it properly....but thats just me - I am not good at amp settings at all !!!

I got one (AD50VT) for my birthday in November. Sent it back the following week and eventually got a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe. Unfortunately I never got to try to Vox with my band, but I have heard of them not being able to cut through or just sounding weak in that situation (then again, proper equalization can probably fix that but I've seen this problem in a lot of reviews).

They're good amps and all with good options if you play a wide variety of music and don't want to spend money on pedals. I have really sensitive hearing though, and it was far too digital for me. Still a really cool amp though, especially the wattage control on the back, which is really, really useful.

You might want to look into the Roland Cube series if you're looking into modeling amps, btw (I have a Micro Cube also, and that thing is loud for only like 2 watts).

It's the valve sound i'm mainly interested in and the Vox seems to have that kind of tone as well as being able to do very different sounds as well, which was kind of tempting...

But after some more thought i think a real valve amp might be a better option for me.
Right now i'm thinking Peavey Valveking 212 combo.
A Hot Rod might also be a good option although it's a bit more expensive.
Blues Junior also looks interesting, there are too many options in my head now .

I feel that my Hot Rod really completed my setup. I've never been totally happy with my gear until I got my Hot Rod Deluxe. I recommend getting a distortion pedal with it though, maybe a Tubescreamer or a Big Muff Pi (I have a Big Muff Pi and the thing roars).

I was shopping between a Valveking 112 and the Hot Rod after I returned my Vox, and bought the HRD without ever even hearing the Valveking. Kind of a stupid move on my part but I love the HRD so it's all good.

I can only say the same thing! My guitar have never sound so good on any amp as on my Fender blues deluxe (some small difference from the hot rod). I would skip the vox, the effects are very cool but it does not sound as good if you are going to use external effects. The hot rod and blues are REALLY LOUD and they have a really nice clean channel.
