Hello my dear friends.
I want to welcome you again to my lessons here at Gmc . Today's lesson is on a very interesting guitar player . Tom morello, is a fascinating guitar player not because he is a demon on his guitar but for the craziest sounds you can ever imagine you can produce with your guitar. I think his band give him exactly what this kind of grove needs. I think here in this lesson I compiled some riffs and solos that will help you understand Tom's brain much better. Enjoy! Please make sure you watch the last video , there is also videos of the wah pedal , that gives an idea how to use it better. When you think of tom morello you have to deliver to goods this way. It is a groove riff that starts with only the bass and then a P.M guitar dive in. Always when you learn this riffs divide them to two then it is easier to understand and remember them. E||-----------------------------------------------| B||-----------------------------------------------| G||-----------------------------------------------| D||--------------7-----------------------7--9--7--| A||--------7--9-----9--7-----------7--9-----------| E||--7--9-----------------9--7--9-----------------| -------------------------------------------------| -------------------------------------------------| -------------------------------------------------| --------------7-----------------------7--9--/11--| --------7--9-----9--7-----------7--9-------------| --7--9-----------------9--7--9-------------------| Always I found it repeats itself in Tom's music after the intro there will come the chorus riff with the bass marking the begging and joins in the end. Once again remember to divide the riff to two. And just get the groove!. -------------------------------|---------------------------------| -------------------------------|---------------------------------| -------------------------------|---------------------------------| -------------------------------|---------------------------------| --4--4--2---------4------------|--4--4--2----2p-0-3p-0-2p-0-3p-0-| --2--2--0----2p-0-2p-0-2h---5--|--2--2--0------------------------| -------------------------------|------------------------------| -------------------------------|------------------------------| -------------------------------|------------------------------| -------------------------------|-------------4--2-------------| --4--4--2---------4------------|--4--4------------4-3-2-2-3-4-| --2--2--0----2p-0-2p-0-2h---5--|--2--2--0--2------------------| Again when you want to compose stuff like Tom, in the verse part there will come the same bass line as in chorus but little thiner. Nice module I have there don't you think?? -------------------------------|----------------------| -------------------------------|----------------------| -------------------------------|----------------------| -------------------------------|----------------------| -------------------------------|----------------------| --2--2--0----2p-0-2p-0-2h---5--|--2--2--0-------------| -------------------------------|------------------------------| -------------------------------|------------------------------| -------------------------------|------------------------------| -------------------------------|-------------4--2-------------| -------------------------------|------------------4-3-2-2-3-4-| --2--2--0----2p-0-2p-0-2h---5--|--2--2--0--2------------------| Behind most of tom's craziest solos, there will be some crazily easy pattern. Usually it will chromatic, in the background the same bass line. --------------------|--------------------|------------------------| --------------------|--------------------|------------------------| --14----------------|--11----------------|--14~--------13~--------| --------------------|--------------------|------------------------| --------------------|--------------------|------------------------| --------------------|--------------------|------------------------| ----------------------|----------------------|------------------------| ----------------------|----------------------|------------------------| --12--------11--------|--14--------13--------|------------------------| ----------------------|----------------------|--12~--------13~--------| ----------------------|----------------------|------------------------| ----------------------|----------------------|------------------------| Now here is the effects I used. L6 spinal puppet amp module all knobs in the middle. Ds1 again all the knobs half way. Comp 50% Analog chorus 7.55 hz (mix 50 depth 50 and the rest 50 as well) Reverse delay 1010 ms. Post Reverb chamber module . What it means ?? go and dig in your pedal board and find the craziest sound you can make . p.s I add some notes in the synthesizer to fill the blanks . take a good look on how to synchronize between the hand and the pdeal I tried to think of the periods in my life I didn't know how to use the wah pedal . here I hope there is enough material for you to work on. Just watch how much you can dp with two chords . Well it is been fun. Always remember that if learn how think like the big ones it is better then to imitate stuff they are doing . Thank you so much for joining me again please write me some notes so I can get better each time.
