In reference to a previous post of mine, I found this guitar on clearance.Guitar Center Jackson JS32R
I love Jackson's and, at around $400, the price seems right. Is this a good guitar? It will have to last several years. It's for use at my home only. Thanks! -------------------- ![]() ![]() |

seems ok mate. You can always upgrade the pickups to improve sound too. The reviews seem good. Have u played it? -------------------- ![]() |

Looks cool to me too, although I haven't tried it. You should see if the piece is good, and if it plays right. If so, proceed to the counter

Looks good, but I'd like to try it out to see if the tuners and floyd were decent, otherwise it's pretty solid.

Stay Away from it! I had a KingV from the same series: the guitar is decent but the tremolo is really bad and won't survive a good ol divebomb (it doesn't hold the tuning well even when not playing!)

I would try it out first to save any disappointment. Also Zakk has some advice you should consider. He's had some experience with the series. Always see what others are playing deriving from it.

i have the same guitar, in white, i don't have tunning issues that often, i also don't use floyd that much,
i love the clean sound of the guitar, but those stock pickups aren't the best when it comes to gain, imo. -------------------- "Doing a bend without makin' a face..? is like eatin' food without tastin' it" - Paul Gilbert

Here is the latest: I have played a couple of guitars and it looks like it's down to the Jackson JS32R or the LTD EC-100QM. I like both of them and really cannot decide but I will probably go with the Jackson. The LTD has a better clean sound but I like the way the Jackson feels better than the LTD.
I went to my local music shop and was talking to them about prices. The Jackson retails for $369 (US). On the internet, it is the same price, except a few have drastically reduced it to $249. My local shop had offered to match the price until they looked it up and saw what a couple of the big dealers were selling them for.Though I have never bought a guitar from this store, I have dealt with the owner since 1992 and I believe he is a good person and he has never done me wrong. The employees were befuddled about these other stores undercutting the prices so badly. They were very nice but said there was no possible way to match that price. They said that while huge dealers could sometimes afford that loss, they could not and I do not have a problem with that. They also raised the possibility of what they called "B stock" where a guitar or guitars have some type of defect so they are reduced .Finally, they said when one company starts doing this, it starts a "trickle down" effect and takes the value of the guitar down which makes perfect sense to me. I compared some of their guitar prices with the ones at the major dealers on the internet and, except for the Jackson, they were the same. Whichever one I get, I am going to buy it at my local shop, even though I am going to pay $120 more (the LTD is $249 in the store or on the web). They raised some good points and are not trying to push me toward the Jackson (which costs more). -------------------- ![]() ![]() |

Big places like Guitar Center or Sam Ash are huge businesses but even Guitar Center has been recently sold to Toys R Us I am on artists relation with GC so I am always shop there but if I wasn't I will do the same thing and support your local music store especially since you know the owner and he is a good guy! -------------------- |

As folks have mentioned, this is the starter so the pickups are not great. That being said, the pickups on my old ibanez rg560 are complete crap and I've not changed them. You may find you can shape a cool sound out of what is there. But in many cases, folks just replace the pickups. My minarik lotus had crap pickups and I just hated them so I put EMG's in it.
The important thing is to actually play this guitar through an amp that is close to what you have. Use the whammy, see if it stays in tune and sounds decent. Also, it won't be setup more than likely, see if they will throw that in. If not, pay to have it properly set up. It's well worth it. Todd In reference to a previous post of mine, I found this guitar on clearance.Guitar Center Jackson JS32R I love Jackson's and, at around $400, the price seems right. Is this a good guitar? They want me to play it a couple of weeks first to get the feel and see what I want changed. Even though the whole thing is new, they're going to change the strings at that point also. -------------------- ![]() ![]() |
