Hey GMC. I'm curious..
Since the majority of members on this site are from outside the U.S., I was wondering...
1. Have you been to America, and what are your honest opinions of it? (Be honest here, it's OK )
2. Ever plan on visiting? I'll give you a place to stay and we'll have some jam sessions or something.
I've been to Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Belize. It's nice to travel and see life from a different perspective, I definitely want to travel more in the future.
Anyways, what about you?
i haven't but i want to go for sure!
I did some traveling on business to Buenos Aires in 2006 and to Mexico City in 2007. We didn't have much time for sight seeing but at least had the chance to take a walk around and get some photos. Both cities are huge compared to what I'm used to living in. Even huge for Los Angeles! The excitement of the city is undeniable. Our business associates in both places took us to some nice restaurants. I've got to say, the steaks we had in Argentina were fabulous. I'd really like to be able to travel someday on leisure/vacation where I would have more time to enjoy it. Actually I'm more of an outdoor person really. Would like to spend time by the ocean and in the mountains. We'd like to see more of the US as well.
Buenos Aries (from near my hotel)...
Mexico City (again from hotel)...
I've seen a lot in Europe (Germany, France, Switzerland, Portugal, Bulgaria, Greece, Belgium, The Netherlands, Hungary) but honestly, I never got a chance to visit the USA
I'd love to though, as there are a lot of beautiful places to see PLUS, it's where rock n roll spread its wings where guitars still rule and no crappy DJ's are hogging everything
On the other hand, I don't like the fact that people from the USA promote a lot of bad habits - such as eating crappy things that compromise your health...
I consider that each place on the face of this earth has many things to offer and many sights to behold, so, I'd pack my bags to see everything if it would be possible
I've been to some countries in Europe (Hungary, Greece, Italy, Sweden, Denmark, France, The Netherlands, Spain, Germany) but I've never been to the USA
I'd very much like to go there! And go roadtripping Unfortunately, it costs lots of money (which I don't have )
Oh, and maybe Canada too.
I have only been to Norway and Finland so i am not that well known to the rest of the world but i would really want to go to the US and also Canada
Cool topic Brandon.. wow, you guys have been to some cool places between you
I've only been to Germany, Spain and travelled through France, Belgium and Nederlands. Oh, and Scotland as it is a still another country
I'm a huge fan of Europe and would love to see more..
I always used to find the idea of going to the USA very intimidating but it's not until recent years that I've developed an interest in seeing certain parts of it, specifically San Fransisco & New York. Not particularly excited at the thought of LA because it doesn't seem to have the same cultural identity as those other 2.. plus the smog levels are fearsome !!
Would definitely love to visit South America too.. I know people who holidayed in Argentina and the photos were unbelievable
I have never been to USA but I would like to go there : the country where guitars and stuff are so cheap in comparison with Europe
I have been to Canada (west). Even wanted to emigrate to Canada.
Been to Norway, Finland, Sweden , UK, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Swiss, Austria, Spain, France, Belgium, Luxembourg,Suriname,
On my wish list are
- Australia
- New Sea land
- Patagonia
- USA
- Chili, Brasil,
life is to short..
Interesting responses guys. As for the radio, it pretty much sucks. It's all pop music, and the main stream country they play is Nashville which in my opinion is 90% crap with the exception of a few artists.
Come to Texas.
If you go to a town such as Austin, the music and culture is very diverse. Plus you can see cool stuff such as:
RIP Stevie.
I've been all over Europe and lived in the Middle East during my teenage years. My favorite city is probably London, I would like to live there one day. Paris and Amsterdam are also very nice, I guess I just have a bias towards London because we share the same language Also, the landscape in Switzerland, Scotland, and Greece is absolutely stunning. If you're ever in the UK, definitely check out the countryside in Scotland, you'll be blown away. The country that impressed me the most, in terms of being an advanced society, is Germany. Everything they have and everything they do is literally the best. I wish the US would emulate the Germans when it comes to running the country.
But the most amazing all around country I have ever been to is the homeland of my maternal ancestors: Italy. It has everything; magnificent architecture, stunning scenery, beautiful and sassy women, rich and extensive history, and of course, fantastic cuisine. I'm actually eligible for an Italian citizenship, maybe I should just move there
There are many countries I would like to visit, but here are just a few:
Turkey
Romania
Brazil
Argentina
I haven't really traveled much, but my girlfriend traveled and lived in states, in Bedford New York, and Superior, small town in Colorado.
She says, it's totally different culture in states than here. Food is completely different, different chemistry all together, different air, different climate, different people.. Perhaps it's a bit difficult to explain, but here people are a bit more "closer" to each other, in the US, in those places, people are helpful, and nice and everything, but don't really go further than that. Not sure how to explain this tho She wouldn't want to live there tho, all the people work and work and work all the time, paying out houses and properties that are rarely theirs, everything is debt, mortgage.. People in the states don't travel as much around the world, they have everything there, and tickets are expensive, usually people with lots of money travel, as far as I could understand, traveling to Europe can be somewhat of a luxury for most people. As opposed to here, there is less corruption, system works, you can really succeed if you want and have the brains. Standard is huge, people can buy lots of things for cheap, specially clothes, there are numerous great outlets, great technology available..
She won't come back to live tho, but we would both like to come to see what's goin on there as tourists
