GMC Forum _ Uploads _ Marcus Lavendell's Neoclassical Etude #1

Posted by: purple hayes Feb 9 2009, 01:45 AM

The original lesson is at 140 BPM, but I can't play the first few measures that fast so I used the 120 BPM backing track.

My hat is off to Marcus, that's probably the best sounding backing track on GMC. It's good even without the lead guitar.

Really nice take. You'll get it up to full speed in no time.

That is awesome! I am still working on the neoclassical Intermediate lesson by Marcus, hopefully someday I will attempt this one.

Very, very nice! I think that all the notes were played well, don't know if there wasn't 1 little mistake. How long have You practiced it?

Posted by: playaxeman Feb 9 2009, 10:10 AM

Great. Good take.

How long did it took you to nail this one?

Thanks for all the kind replies, everyone.

I actually learned most of this one almost a year ago and then forgot about it. I made a commitment at Christmas time of 2008 that if I was going to learn a lesson from GMC, I would learn it well enough to record and post a video of it.

It probably took me two weeks of re-learning it to get it up to 120 BPM. Most of the lesson I can play at full speed but those first 3 or four measures are difficult because my alternate picking is weak. Once I nail that down, I'll post another version at full speed.

Very Nice take, could used a better muting around the 00:40 licks but that's about it

Go go 140 bpm smile.gif
