Hey dudes,

Im still a bit of a recording noob but im getting there smile.gif I am using Edirol Orchestral with Reaper, but I can only get one instrament playing at any one time.

I would like to use just a single track / midi file, but use multiple instraments from the VST. I understand its something to do with configuring the midi file, but Im not sure!

Any help much appreciated,

regards

Why would you want all instruments in one track? Every instrument should be on a separate track. If you then want to combine them into a single midi track you can save it as MIDI FORMAT 0. It will keep all instrument information but it will be just a single track if you import it back into the project. I've never used this method. Old Roland keyboards had this format but I guess it's no longer used. If you save as MIDI FORMAT 1 then it saves them as a separate tracks but midi will still play the same. Also it is editable if you want to change something.

Hey Emir,

I didnt realise that each instrament should be on a seperate track, so you cleared something up for me already smile.gif

I am trying to learn how to make my own backings as I cannot always find pre-made ones for the kinds of music I like! I am really into classical sounded peices, so thought id get a full classical instraments in my backings!! smile.gif

Right now im practicing your turkish march lesson, but once ive finished that I want to learn a few different JS Bach peices cool.gif

I have a cool Bach piece with Midi backing and tab. Yesterday I was doing it with my private student. I can send it to you if you want.

If you use Cubase/Nuendo, there is an option for choosing the MIDI channel for the left (inspector view). 1 is for 1 Orchestral channel, 2 is for 2 etc...
