GMC Forum _ Marcus Lavendell _ Slow Neoclassical Etude #1

Posted by: Rated Htr Sep 4 2008, 09:14 PM

First Recording, my views:
I think I missed two notes, but no bigger problems
My muting on the pull off section seems a bit bad but I would like to hear your opinion
The octave in the end wasn't muted after the string hit

Here it goes smile.gif

Should I correct anything before going up the tempo?

Nice take Filipe! biggrin.gif
Your playing sounds very nice and clean. Also, both the vibrato and the trills are great!

I think the biggest problem here is the timing. It seems you're a bit out of sync. I suggest you play at this speed some more before you speed it up, but try to stomp your foot on every beat from now on. So that you physically feel every beat, and not just hearing it in your head. Also, try to accent the notes that comes on the beat. That will help a bit!

I'm not sure what happened in the first lick, but there should be a 16th note pause before you start playing (take a look at the GuitarPro file and you'll see what I mean). If you miss that pause the whole intro lick will be ruined.

I still think it was a good take though, and I'm really looking forward to hear you play this again when you've practiced it some more! smile.gif

Better?

If not, can you tell me exactly the places where I'm missing?

I wanted to start slow so Marcus could tell me what was wrong from the beginning, so I could correct it and than move on to faster tempos smile.gif

Wow! Much better Filipe! biggrin.gif
You're a fast learner!!

I'd say you're ready to increase the tempo now!
