Hi all, and welcome to the Wiki Writers board! wink.gif

In this thread we will explain how to become a Wiki:writer and get a Wiki:er badge, and also the requirements needed to maintain it once it's obtained! (Don't worry it will be easy enough!)

1. How to qualify as a GMC Wiki:er

OK, I'll quote Andrew on this part as he has already explained it really well:

As you are all no doubt aware, Kris launched the GMC Wiki a few days ago.
We already have some cool content in there but we want to encourage people to add more great articles!

To help this along, we are adding a new GMC member rank called "GMC Wiki:er" - for now, GMC Wiki:ers will (in addition to gaining huge GMC respect) be entitled to have "GMC Wiki:er" added to their title (Just as Senior members get a phrase of their choice, wiki writers will get an entry that says "GMC Wiki:er")

In order to qualify for this, the member must have made at least 5 posts of high quality. This is not going to be too hard to do, but we will have an eye on quality and we won't let just any articles through. We will be emphasizing content and good formatting.

So, how will it work? As follows:

1. Write 5 or more good quality articles
2. When you think you qualify, send our Wiki Coordinator Fran a PM with links to all of your articles
3. He will read them and either:
a. Approve your promotion
b. Give you feedback and tips on what you need to do to be accepted
4. When you are accepted you will get your title as soon as we can add it.

2. How to maintain the GMC Wiki:er rank

As of the 8th of September 2008 we are introducing these simple requirements for the existing Wiki:ers to maintain their status, just the same way as it has recently been done with the GMC Student Instructors rank.

A Wiki:er Badge will be placed in a members profile once they have submitted 5 or more good quality articles, as stated above.
In addition, to maintain the Wiki:er status a Wiki Writer will need to be creating new entries on our guitar wiki on a regular basis, this will be reviewed on a monthly basis. (Natural months)

In this month period a Wiki:er will need to have written 2 quality articles. This should be easy enough to achieve, and people who writte even more articles in one month should be taken into account if they didn't produce new articles for some reason on the following month.

To make things even easier Wiki:ers can choose to create 3 WCP entries or 3 of the Short Suggested Entries instead of the two original articles. Your choice!

Please make sure to PM me with your monthly entries so I can keep track of your efforts properly.

There is of course some flexibilty to these guidelines, members producing articles should contact either myself or Andrew Cockburn if they are having any technical issues or holidays etc that may mean that they cannot submit the amount of articles in the two monthly period.
