Another Ap Question

I used to put my wrist over the bridge and the part near the elbow near the body of the guitar but today i've tried to lift the elbow off and put only the wrist on the bridge and this seems help me picking more naturally... what do you think? what about you? In my opinion over-analyzing one's technique takes your focus from creating music to all the wrong things. Just pick however it seems comfortable or natural, and train, train, train... it'll come naturally as you do it. I'm sure there are loads of correct ways of doing it, and pain and a complete lack of development over long periods of time despite practice are things saying you are doing it wrong. Dec 23 2011, 11:46 PM	Learning Roadie Posts: 112 Joined: 17-May 11 From: Italy	It seems so far i have improved legato, bending, vibrato and phrasing but i'm not improving AP, and in particular right hand movement despite i've been playing for 1 hour and half or 2 only one note in alternate picking for months O_o It doesn't come natural to me even at low speed... From the sound of it, it seems like you are shifting positions just to AP, is this the case? Also try not to "Pick from the Elbow". There are tons of posts about this very issue. Try to maintain normal hand position if possible. Marty friedman is a great player and his style is all his own. But I wouldn't suggest it as a template. In general, place your palm near the bridge so you can palm mute or not, or palm mute some notes in a give run. Keep your arm where you normally keep it. I do a TON of alternate picking work in my video chats so do stop by We will be doing one every saturday in 2012. If your hand or wrist starts to hurt, definitely don't ignore it. You don't want carpal tunnel or something. But if you change where you put your hand and it feels like it works better, go for it.
