Hi Alex.
First of all thanks for helping out !
awesome, my goals are alternate fast picking ( dream theater style )
my weekness is alternate speed picking, my strongest points are sweeping and legato shredding.
haha I don't really have favourite guitar players I love them all. ( Steve Lukather, John Petrucci,) but my best
sounding hero is Marcus Lavendell, He was here a long time ago I think.

Note : I haven't got a active subscribtion at GMC bacause I am underaged in my country for a credit card
, won't mean I can't do lessons because I do most stuff by ear.
because sometimes instructors use youtube that comes in handy for me.

oh and before I forget, my weakest point is theory I guess, I would love to know how
to improvise on progressive metal. When I try to do it now I just try every note and if that note sounds
right I write it down to find out the scale. But can't find the logic haha.

This backing track will be used for your future assignments!
For this exercise you should use metronome only!
Sorry I didn't make myself clear!
I am preparing arpeggio connections assignment for you mixed with alternative picking!
It is gonna be very very fun and challenging!

yes, just back from my holiday. I am trying to record with my x3 into audacity but it gives me really anoying buzz throughout the recorder.

Cool! How was your holiday? Where did you go?
The noise can be because of the monitor/computer frequencies try to move around the room and see if it will go away!

Norwayy, Im going back this summer again . well, for the monitoring I have no clue, my x3 monitors it to my headset but
the pc doesn't monitor. strangee. I am going to record it at a friends pc . and I will try to also collab with you !

that picking excercise worked very well. But it takes really a lot of time to learn it without watching the tab.

as you noticed I tried to learn all the fretnotes because I hear all these guitarist say that it is really important.

I like your band! Sounds very good! I also liked your Facebook page!
So to learn the neck might seem very complicated, but it's not as hard as it seems!
Let's simplify it!
First and sixth strings are the same and after 12 fret everything is starting over!
So all you need to learn is 5 strings up to 12 frets!
Here is the trick!
First I want you to learn all the dots and open strings!
Open strings are easy to remember if we will use a little rhyme starting with a low E
Eat
All
Day
Get
Big
Eeasy

So for now I want you to memorize this:

To speed up the process play a note and call it out loud and than check if you are correct!
Don't go any farther just yet! Let me know when you feel comfortable and I will show you what to do next!

Opened strings now let's go to the first dot's it will get easier because notes will repeat themselves!
So do the same thing for all the dots!

Learn notes from all the dots! You will start getting the system and will understand that the neck is very easy to learn! All notes repeating themselves and as long as you know the patterns you will have no problems memorizing them!
We still have 4 more exercises to go and by the end you will know the whole neck
This one shouldn't take too long!

Well, I think those excercises didn't only help me know the notes on the board, but also hear the notes better.
because of that last excercise I can now find the differences better between notes. and all the octaves on
the fretboard of a note. I see improvement every day that I am learning these.

So by now you should feel comfortable with the neck! Let's add two more dots fifth and seventh frets! Same thing as before find notes on the dots and the same notes on the rest of the neck!
