Agile Guitars - Anyone Tried Them? Options

I've been looking into getting a 7 string and Agile, on paper, seem to be very good for the price.

Can anyone share their experiences with Agile and actually buying from Rondo Music?

They're fine for the price. I've tried a few, but only owned one. The neck was actually very very good, with very well leveled frets, but the guitar was very light and sounded like plastic, even after a pickup change. I don't have it anymore, but it was truly good for the price

I personally have not played one, however I have had many conversations with a guy who has one of the 7 strings which he uses his with his band all the time as it's his main axe and he swears by it. He tells me the quality is good and that he'd have another one. Don't know how it compares to anything else out. His previous guitar was an Ibanez S series 6 string and he said that he didn't want to spend the money on another Ibanez 7, so he went with the Agile. Hopefully someone here can give you more info, but to know a guy gig's with one constantly and says it's never been an issue is probably at least a good indication that it's a solid player.

No history with Rondo, but the 7 string community in general (check the forums at 7string.org etc.) have a generally favorable view of these guitars for the price. They have a good fret job and overall level of finish. For the price, they are really hard to beat. YOu can get a 7 from them with active pickups and a 7 string floyd rose for quite a bit less than a similar model would run from say, Ibanez for the same level of instrument.

That said, they do have to skimp on some bits to keep the price low IMHO and thus the overal perception that the guitars are a bit "light" for Baritone work, perhaps over cavetated, etc. But even with all that, they are a great way to get started on the 7 string world. If you are ok with a used instrument, the Ibanez 76xx series are quite nice and can be had for a decent price in music stores or on ebay. But it's always buyer beware on ebay.

I want to say you're speaking of the RG7321. It's $449USD, I actually believe it went up in price. I've played it in a store it's not bad. But I say that because we all know it would play 10x better setup and maybe a nice set of pickups dropped in it.

Yep that's it, thanks for the info. I think my next guitar will be an Ibanez, I've always liked them for sure. The 7 string I have is an old beater guitar that I got in a trade and the guy just threw it in, and surprisingly it plays well. It's an old Dean Avalanche 7 with Grover tuners, a nice straight neck and not sure if the pickups are stock or not, but they are actually decent... The guitar is just butt ugly is all.

The RG7321 doesn't have a locking trem but is still a FINE axe. Here is a link and full details at the Ibby Wikki

The one I was talking about (And the one I play) is a 1999 numbers matched, all stock, RG7620 (Which HAS a locking trem and Dimarzio Pickups and was the blueprint for Prestige 7 series). Used on ebay, these can be had around 4-500 US with a bit of luck and patience Here is a link with full details. I am always on the lookout for another one of this for a good price. Crusty shredders like myself covet this series greatly.

For a newer guitar, and for a bit cheaper, you can grab an old RG7420.

But if you have some money to spend and are looking for a guitar that hasn't been put through the ringer, the newer RG7320 is a KILLER KILLER axe!

But any Ibby 7 string with a WIZARD 1,2, or 3 neck would be a killer choice IMHO

*I know all this Ibanez Nomenclature can get to be a bit much, but after a while it sorta makes sense.

Not yet, but it's on the books for my "Planned Purchases" for 2013. Also going on the list is an AGILE INTERCEPTOR 7. All this talk about them got me bopping over to their web site, droooooooool. Planned purchase, check.

There was this very talented dude here, called Tyler Teeple. He owns one and in time he posted stuff that he recorded with that axe. I think that it sounds pretty darn awesome! Otherwise, I have no clue about it..
