Task 15: https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Bens-Vibrato-Odyssey-5/
You knew it was only a matter of time before we started focusing on the technique that makes notes go wobble !! This one really strips vibrato down to its bare essentials and exposes it for what it really is. A series of bends.. oscillating back and forth. My main piece of advice is to remember to bring the string back to its original pitch before bending it back out again. This is how you keep your vibrato sounding in tune. Here's a couple of videos I did, specifically about this, they may help show you what I mean as well https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/guitar_fo...showtopic=43123 I'm going to be away from next Friday afternoon until Monday so I'm going to make the deadline a day shorter so.. Deadline next Friday 11th May Remember, there's a Donut of Celebration in it for the first one to post their take ! |

Hey Guys, just thought I'd take a stroll round the Temple and see how everybody is getting on ? Anybody need any help on this one ? I'm working on it. It's something quite difficult, especially the part where you play 32th notes (I think). Here is a sample of my work at 55 bpm (the slowest backing track). Tell me what you think about it. Bonne soirée, Maître Ben. http://soundcloud.com/grindguer/bens-vibrato-odyssey-5/s-KzB0z -------------------- Million-to-one chances crop up nine times out of ten.

For the fast bit you're talking about.. don't worry too much about it being exactly in time. I believe vibrato is a natural thing that doesn't have to synch in with the beat. I just made it this way to demonstrate the 'bending' approach as clearly as possible and to get people used to doing it at different speeds. You're on the right path. Just watch out for some of those semitone vibrato notes (3rd note on each run) as some of them are sounding a bit sharp, more like whole tone |

The one thing I'd advise is to try and reach for the whole tone if you can as you're doing semi tone bending mostly. It's harder to do, especially quickly, but it'll give you more scope for doing wide vibrato in the long run ! Nice work ! As you are the first axe master to post a full speed take, you may collect another Donut of Celebration ! Eat it wisely.. |

Do you understand what I mean when I talk about bring the notes back to their original pitch to keep it in tune ? |
