I was going to pick a set up last week. Just worried they have that stick feel like some other coated strings do. Maybe I'll Frankenstein a set of 10-56 and then buy a single 66 string and toss it on my 7.

They kinda do have a "stick feel" you might say.

Thanks for the review Brandon pushed me into taking a 2 hour round trip talking to speak with my salesman up at Guitar Center about how he felt since he is spot on for what I like and said that he loves them for that snappy sound.

So... I am now a proud owner of a 10-46 set. As for the sticky its not that painted string feeling at all, not as smooth as I'm use to. But it is time to part ways with D'Addario because I like the tone I'm getting way more. Time to give them a good stretch and rock out. \m/

Thanks again Brandon!

sad.gif Wow, things just took a turn for the worse... Strumming along and it starts to go out of tune. Tighten it up strum more bam! Out of tune again. Tighten it back up riff kinda hard to see if the peg is ok and I see this happen....

Ouch! I hope you bought a spare pack in expectation of breaking/snapping/pulling etc.? This guy has seen better days.

I picked up 2 packs. smile.gif I don't trust Ernie Ball strings, I use to use the Orange pack that was like a 9-56 and this happened all the time just never on the E. Thats why I switched to D'Addario and I never once had string break or unwind.

I haven't had this trouble except one time on the high E string. Fresh set broke. Looks like you got a bad wrap.

I can't use any Ernie Ball strings, they can't handle the tension I like in my strings, especially slinky's. I use LaBella's, very bright, warm and crisp tone. I also apply Fast Fret resin to it every 2-3 days, and its keeps them lasting forever and sounding great. Most major string companies I don't like, with the exception of Dean Markley, there sets are pretty fantastic.

I got started on Ernie Ball because I asked the guitar store clerk which were the best. (This is around the time I started guitar.)

Most people don't prefer strings tight, so its never a problem. I like the tension though, it accents the tone.

I can't see me changing from D'addario, the only problem I get with them is never remembering how to spell the name.

The only Ernie Ball set that never did this to me was a 7-string 13g pack tuned to C on my Explorer. Anytime I used the hybrids to have a thicker tone it unwound. But normally it took more than a month for it to happen.

I have to agree I love tight strings that need effort to bend. I have a hard time playing strings that have a slack to them, because they just feel awkward to me.

Hey Fireball nice review man! smile.gif I have a couple questions for you though. How are those strings for bending? Would you say they are harder to bend? I have to wonder because I assume that since they are cobalt they would be harder rather than soft and may be brittle and prone to breaking , also I was wondering about the cost compared to a regular set of Slinkys such as the hybrids you have used.
Thanks man! cool.gif Rich....

Well for the amount of time I got out of mine. I noted no difference from any other strings when it came to bending. As for the price they cost $10 where as regulars are I believe $6.

I did notice that I had to bend my D string more than I normally would have to on the Cobalt strings. dry.gif It is required for my guitar solo for my song "Surge."
