Try this.
First bend to the note you're supposed to. Hold it for a ms or two EDIT: Error, I exchanged "bending" with vidrato This post has been edited by MickeM: Sep 4 2007, 11:51 PM -------------------- My bands homepage

i also have problems with this it seems to make my bend go out of tone help us plz I'm not Marcus But i can give you my opinion.Nick you say your bends go out of tone.Thats because your bends must be presice to the exact note your going for.You should practice and really understand what 1/4 ,, 1/2 and 1full bends are.Example alot of times on these vibrato's you will be playing you will strike at 7th fret but after the bend you will be making it sound like your hitting the 9th fret.Thats a 1full bend .You have to practice it to get exact control when your vibrating it in and out that pitch. -------------------- My Gear
Cort X-2 electric with 24 frets and 2 humbucker's dark Blue Kustom DFX100 With Celestion Speakers, and thats it now (lol) My Advice Figure out what you want in life early.Wether it's the girl, the partying or mastering the guitar.Adding any 2 together will get in your way. |

Some great advise from Shredmandan and MickeM here! Thanks!
This has been discussed on another thread, and this was basically what I answered there: * Don’t press down the string too hard, you only need to press it hard enough that you don’t “drop” it. The harder you press it, the more tense you’ll be, and you’ll lose control over the string. * Work on finger exercises (GripMaster or similar) to strengthen the muscles. * If you bend the string with your ring finger – then of course it’s ok to place the index- and middle finger on the string as well, to support. * Use a lighter string guage Most important though is that you set your mind to how you want it to sound. Kind of like hearing the sound/vibrato "in your head" -Marcus -------------------- |

Marcus and others made some great points here
One thing I suggest is to always have your thumb kind of over the neck and not in the back, It may be common since to most but I believe that without proper grip of the neck itself , you wont get the bends and the vibrato down. And if your not getting it dont worry ! Great Vibrato comes with lots of time ! And a scalloped fretboard This post has been edited by Eat-Sleep-andJam: Sep 6 2007, 05:28 AM -------------------- Join Me On the Lyrics Board !

That do you use yoru wrist when doing bend vibrato, or your fingers?? -------------------- “Obey the principles without being bound by them.”

i no how to bend to tone but its seems like when i vibrato my bends it takes it out of tune thanks for the tips marcus Thats because you need to vibrato above and below the bend mark, for example if you bend 7 to 9 as mentioned earlier, you need your vibrato to waver above and below the 9 (aka your vibrato needs to go beyond the normal bend). You probably already know that but just know that it takes a lot of finger strength to control it, so keep practicing. -------------------- Gear: Fender American Deluxe Stratocaster, Gibson '67 RI Flying V, Mesa Boogie F-30 112 combo, crazy pedals. |

I must say this is one of the trickiest techniques to get down. I always have my thumb over the neck nways as im not a shredder and play mostly blue type things. Thanks for the great info guys! |
