Sounds good Cosmin!

I went ahead a finished up my take on the Staccato Power Chords lesson. It sounds awful when played because I can't get Garageband to pick up palm muting and I have not one clue how to mix or master a track.

Tell me what you think! I might try to get a video take in and edit it up for the REC program.

I uploaded my take. Curious as to what your grade will be tongue.gif

I recorded a quick take of the first half of the Neoclassical lesson.

I wasn't going for perfection. I wanted to give you an idea of where I am so that you could hear mistakes or find good qualities.

That scale run definitely needs work although I fee that I'm getting a stronger grasp on it quicker.

Hey Trey! This is GOOD progress man wink.gif You got good timing and the flow is almost there - you see how the notes flow into each other in the original take? That's what you should aim for, as you are 80% there wink.gif Otherwise, polish up the faster passages and you're there my friend smile.gif

Looking forward for the next take - I think we'll be ready pretty quickly with this one!

I'm hoping to have at least a full run through up by the end of the day. It definitely won't be the final take as I'm a perfectionist.

I'd just like to get it in to you so you can see what's going on.

I'm getting the speed run better, I think my main focus on this one needs to actually be my accuracy when it comes to hitting the notes as well as vibrato.

Which brings me to a question, along with this lesson, could we maybe work on vibrato? I was thinking of working on Ben's Vibrato Odyssey series. My vibrato definitely needs work and I feel to get that nice sound out of the notes I need a solid vibrato.

I made a take of that scale run so that you could see how it's coming along. I think it's very good but it could get a little bit better.

It's at the actual time. Tell me what you think! cool.gif

Hey Trey! I love the fact that you are a perfectionist and I think that the run is ok at this point but it is a bit rigid - it needs more flow somehow. Try to work more with the backing track and that flow will come for certain wink.gif

Ben's series are great! I totally agree on tackling those smile.gif Shall we start with the first one?

I actually went ahead and started lesson one of ben's series yesterday. It's a quick lesson but it is going to take me some time to master. I'm having trouble getting my guitar to sustain the right way.

It's either a problem linked to the guitar or to the fact that you are not yet used with this sort of phrasing. Which one is the right guess? smile.gif

Ben's vibrato lessons are great, so let's see where we can get with them, shall we? Anything else you got on your mind, regarding a particular thing which you would like to learn?

I think we are on the right track. Lead METAL practice and then some practical technique training is doing me good.

I actually think the answer to your question is neither. When I'm just playing the guitar the notes ring out. When I connect to my computer to record the lesson, the notes aren't fully picked up.

Im thinking that garageband doesn't pick up certain frequencies.

If you are MAC user, I surely recommend Logic Audio - I used the PC interface and it rocks!

I have never used Garageband so I don't have any experience with it, but Logic is surely good smile.gif Can you get your hands on it, mate?

I suggest you first try the demo and see what you think of it smile.gif There's also another approach, described in this little video here wink.gif

The problem that I see with this (keep in mind I've only seen half of the video) is that after 30 days it isn't free anymore. I don't have the money to get the full version of this.

Hey mate smile.gif watch the whole video and first of all try to record something using the advice given in the movie. If the results are good, then it is a good time to ask yourself if you want to buy it. But first, try it wink.gif

How's playing, otherwise? Do you maybe have a take that I can see with the vibrato lessons? smile.gif

Hey Cosmin,

Sorry it's been a while. My senior year of high school just started two weeks ago so I've been very busy. The week before that (the week I last posted) I had to go on a team training trip.

No I do not have a take of Ben's Vibrato Odyssey because I can get garageband to sustain the notes. I'd play it through my amp but it died on me.

Either way, I still am practicing the neoclassical lesson. I'll be starting to record it within the next week for you.

Stay tuned cool.gif

Hello Trey smile.gif Well, as long as you're practicing, things are ok, if you stop that, well that's when the problem arises sad.gif I'm waiting for the take and any other questions you might have in the mean time wink.gif

I'll be trying to record at take today.

I'm essentially done with the lesson. In the mean time, could we maybe start a lesson on metalcore riffing. Keep in mind I'll only be able to drop to D.

Hey Trey, well, whatever I will shoot your way, you are always free to play in drop D, but if you want to submit a REC, then I think you will need to use the original tuning. How about this one? -> https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Killswitch-Engage-Style/ I know you like it biggrin.gif Tell me if it's too difficult. Ok? I chose it because when you like something, you are more prone to nailing it biggrin.gif
