Seeing the post called 'Indian fun time' -> https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/guitar_fo...showtopic=41686 made me think about how people could handle situations in reality. As Ben said, I am a very squeamish person myself - can't stand seeing cruelty happen in any form. I actually transform myself into a very hateful person towards the ones who can do such inhuman acts.

Now, reality is a different matter: for instance, there was a very nasty situation a few years ago, when I was alongside my old band, Evo, coming back from a gig at the seaside. Our sound engineer was opening the trunk to get some stuff out and in that very moment a bag full of cymbals slipped out and cut off his toe (he was wearing flip-flops as we were returning from the seaside)... Everybody was shocked and screaming. I don't know how I managed to tie the toe alongside another friend and tried to stop the bleeding until we got him to the hospital. After the whole thing was done, I realized I had no trouble in having to deal with such an ugly wound and a river of blood. Strange huh?

I guess I still have to find that out. I never was in a situation like that with another person, although I remember when I had some pretty nasty accidents when I was a kid and I remember that I was analyzing the wounds pretty calm and lucid. After the pain went away of course smile.gif

I'm very good at handling such situations. Such scenarios don't really have an impact on me at first

I would help, no matter what. Hey if it's a human being or a hurt animal and I can do something about it, I don't care blood. I would help aliens too, as long as they aren't radioactive or something biggrin.gif

Interesting topic. As Cosmin already said, I can handle movie, cartoon or computer game violence and gore no problem but when people cut themselves in real life I prefer not to look at the wound. However, whenever I've had to do something that I normally wouldn't do, I just shut up and get on with it. I remember when I had to collect some bloody, newborn lambs with my bare hands.. that wasn't something I would choose to do.. but you just do these things and worry about it afterwards haha biggrin.gif

Cosmin's toe story is another level though !! ohmy.gif

To be honest I tended to exaggerate on wounds that were not so bad and keep calm on the bad ones. I don't want to describe then in details here. A snuff website would be a better place for that smile.gif)

mmm I've never had such an extreme situation so I don't know exactly how I could react. It's great how you Cosmin reacted in that situation.

Stuff like blood and wounds and such doesn't really bother me, since I used to help out at a veterinary office, and people would often bring in wounded animals and such. If I was ever in a situation with wounded people, I hope I would have the courage to step in and help where I could, since I am trained in CPR and First aid. Never really faced anything like that yet so far...

Now, as a side note to cruelty towards animals, we're facing a big issue in Romania, that being the problem of the stray dogs (they exist in OVERWHELMING numbers in my country - there are AT LEAST 30 only on my street...)

They want to vote for a law which allows euthanasia for the stray dogs, in other words killing them for being too many. Now the animal rights activists and a huge load of people are against it. All sorts of campaigns have started and all the things which go along with this. Anyway, I am against killing them, as I love animals, but I think that the government has to do something with them nonetheless - they are acting like packs and they killed people for crying out loud! I got bitten 2 years ago 100 m away from my home.

I think that adoption would NOT be a good solution, because the real ISSUE here are PEOPLE. They take dogs and leave them on the streets, they breed and grow in huge numbers. I would honestly lock up the kind grannies feeding them on the streets - a dog is an animal, if it knows food is coming from a certain place, it will stay around and of course, others will come! Dogs are not to blame, people are!

Now a good solution would consist in sterilizing all dogs and placing them in natural reservations where they can live relaxed without bothering anyone - but this solution could be costly and it most surely need a whole lot of resources.

The government is made up by idiots only...imagine that they were ready to KILL the Danube Delta's LAST wild horses (about 100 magnificent animals), just because they were eating I don't know what crops, instead of finding a solution...

What sort of a solution would you see fit?

I have worked construction since high school and seen a number of people shot with a nail gun( including myself, 3 or 4 times),hit in the head with a hammer, wounds needing several stitches ( including while I was laying carpet I cut my finger with a suicide blade down to the bone and had to drive myself to the emergency), not to mention my kids puncturing their lips from a fall
I can help bloody people ,but, when I see my own blood- that is when I loose it
and the creme-DE-la creme My employee was stapling off the roof when I heard a yell , I knew what had happened and when I LEANED BACK i HAD A CLEAR VIEW through a window to see his hand stapled to the roof .When I got up there ,the staple went through his nail and into the hip (which is solid wood).so I had to slowly rock the staple loose, while rocking his hand ,and while rocking ,the pliers slipped and they hit him in the jaw and almost knocked him unconscious , it was funny after it was over , but I sure felt bad when I hit him

Ok, maybe you're right.. it should be left unsaid ! ohmy.gif

My Dad told me a story about him and my uncle working in the forests years ago in Wales, cutting down trees. My Uncle was using a chainsaw and it hit a brach and flew back towards his helmet. It cut through the helmet and cut his face (it's ok, he's alive), leaving a very nasty gash down his forehead.

So they had to drive to the nearest hostpital in the Land Rover through all these narrow forset lanes. They eventually got stuck behind a tractor that wouldn't move out of the way. They beeped the horn and yelled but still the tractor took no notice. My uncle got tired of it so he got out of the Land Rover, walked up the tractor and showed the guy his head.. the tractor moved out of the way !

To look at him now, you can't see a scar.. but hell of a lucky recovery ! ohmy.gif

I grew up working with my parents in a glass art-shop, and later in a metal fabrication shop ~ I"ve seen some pretty grizzly injuries so I think I'm somewhat numb to blood and injuries. I had a 250 pound panel of tempered glass explode into my arm once ~ it was like getting shot by a shot gun - my left forearm had glass embedded in it" ~ that was interesting. Also saw someone mash his thumb to a pancake in a 40 ton press.

But I do hate seeing others fight or inhumane acts on animals / people. It makes me mad more than anything.
