GMC Forum _ Introduce Yourself ! _ Hello From Germany
Posted by: jessi Jul 20 2012, 10:35 PM
Hi!
My name is Jessi and I'm from Germany. I'm very old now (my hair starts to get grey and my life seems to be over ),
but it just came into my mind to play an instrument.
And its told that it's never too late to start playing guitar. I must say that I never played any instrument in my whole life
(my mom did even forbid me to play a flute because she hates it) BUT: I'm sure I'm a wasted talent if I don't try :ffp:
Well, my taste in music is maybe a bit different than yours. I hear girls stuff like FOO FIGHTERS, Jack Johnson, Bruce Springsteen,
Richie Sambora (sometimes ), Mark Knopfler (just the instrumental stuff - don't like his voice ).
Sometimes I like listening to classical music.
Yet I apologize my bad english, when my private translator isn't present (even if he is attended, english isn't getting better )
Ok, I'm happy to be part of this great community and I hope to learn how to play a guitar, at least a little bit, before I get .... 40?
See you in the forum!

Hello,
You are never to old to learn in instrument, and since you aren't even 40, you aren't that old.
I recommend starting here:
http://www.guitarmasterclass.net/instructor/Bear-Rose/
Good luck, and welcome to the community.
PS. We have a lot of people on the forum with English as a second language, and we even have a few Germans. There is no need to worry about not having mastery over the English language.

Willkommen Jessi
You're right that it is never too late to start learning guitar and we're all here to help.
I also agree with Nihilist with checking out the lessons of Bear Rose, they cover really important basic techniques like strumming and chord shifting

Thanks for the nice welcomes and encouragements. I'll check Bear Rose' lessons right after struggling through Andrew Cockburns first steps.
You see: I'm a bloody beginner

Welcome Jessi! Todd here. I"m an instructor here and I'd love to invite you to our Saturday Lesson that we have each weekend around 10pm in Germany. Your countryman Gitarrero is often there as well. We are thrilled to have you here @ GMC and as my German friends tell me, "Life is Not a Pony Farm" but, GMC is a Pony Farm! Well, sorta.

Ok, because you guys are all so nice, I will use the next two hours for filling my friendslist instead of practicing guitar.
Is it like facebook: who has the most friends without even knowing them?
I thought that all people here at GMC are friends anyway.

Hi Jessi! Welcome to the site!! I love Foo Fighters! That's not a girl band!
You already received some good suggestions on the things that you should check but let me know if you need some assistance. I have a mentoring program called "Gab's Army". You are invited to join.

Hey, want to shred - not?
Thanks for the invitation
Posted by: Slavenko Erazer Jul 27 2012, 09:30 AM
Shredding is a good way to start.
You have to develop a left hand cordination and bulid up right hand stamina by playing licks on one string, that's what Ben's excercises are good for.
