So I was just browsing the forums and rocking out a bit on my guitar when the earth and my house started doing a little rocking and rolling of it's own. unsure.gif In other words we just had 6.24 magnitude quake centered about 70 miles northwest of my home here in Big Lake, Alaska.
No damage to report, but we had some things fall off of shelves with doors and plants swinging as the whole house was kind of shuffling from side to side and I could see some wave action on the lake which was calm before it started. It was strong enough to get us to start heading for the door. biggrin.gif Rock and Roll!!

biggrin.gif Thanks everyone! We are used to some occasional shaking up here as it just goes with the territory, but this one was long and strong, so some folks were a bit surprised. There have been some reports of things falling off of shelves in some grocery stores and some bookshelves falling over in some offices, stuff like that but no major damage or injuries thankfully. Hopefully the release was enough to keep the tension down along the fault lines up here so we can avoid a big one which apparently we are due for. In the meantime, life goes on. smile.gif

Edit: Oh boy , we just had another one that registered a magnitude of 5.11 from the same general area, maybe a bit closer at approx 30 miles away. hopefully if they continue, they will also continue to decrease in magnitude.
