Sometimes we try and complicate things. First check out Daniels new lesson, "Basic Tapping", and the post a response to the following question.

Are there any pieces of advice that you tell yourself on a daily basis on how to get better?

"Do it for the girls! Do it for the girls!"

Hahaha...just kidding. tongue.gif Well, for me, I tell myself not to rush, take my time doing a hard or fast section. I tend to practice lessons out of my reach to push myself and once I reach my target for the day, I reward myself by doing a lesson I can easily handle.

Hmm, very good question !

Don't rush ahead. Stop noodling aimlessly, make everything count. RELAX ! smile.gif

Is this also going in the psychological profile ? ph34r.gif

Luckily for me I don't have to tell myself anything since the voices in my head takes care of that... unsure.gif

Mostly my ideas aren't about improving technique, since lately I've actually felt that I have way good technique compared to my phrasing skills and vibrato. So I just try to get the feel right, the right volume, the right dynamics. And the right notes - I've tried to stop looking at the scale boxes and start looking at the neck as a whole.

I just keep dreaming of how good I want it to sound. I imagine myself playing it just perfect. - That's from Steve Vai. wink.gif

/Two things: Am I going to be able to play this live? and: Is my technique (or lack of) affecting the actual music? in other words, am I changing parts to make them fit my skills?

Before practicing:

- do I really need to practice this?
- how can I use this in my playing?
- will it show right away or I have to work long term?
- do I have to make a plan for practice for this?
- what theory is behind this?

I'd tell myself to show up more often. I tend to be too busy to practice some days, and I know that even just spending a little time on the guitar during those days would be much more beneficial than missing a few days in a row.
