GMC Forum _ Todd Simpson _ Guitar Rig 4 Preset Vault

Posted by: Todd Simpson Dec 24 2010, 04:01 AM

After seeing a post recently where someone thought they'd lost all their custom presets, I thought it would be a good idea to create a Thread just for GUITAR RIG 4. I"ve been using it for a while and I"m a big fan. I"ve created a wad of great presets and I"ll share them here.

IF YOU HAVE PRESETS TO SHARE PLEASE INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING IN EACH POST

1.)The preset file archived in a zip file e.g (killerpreset.zip)

2.)An MP3 Preview of how the preset sounds.

3.)A picture/screen grab of how the preset looks (just a quick visual reference so we can see what fx are being used)

Hopefully there are other Guitar Rig 4 users on GMC and this will be a place for us all to share spiffy presets.

Beauty of an idea Todd. I am currently using a Pandora PX5D but switching over to GR4. I order it a few weeks ago during NI's pre-holiday sale but they ran out of stock.. as soon as they have it available I will be getting it smile.gif

Love the idea of being able to post / share presets.

Cheers!

I think you are gonna LOVE Guitar Rig smile.gif They should send me a Tshirt for pimping them so hard! I"m a big fan of the Native Instruments KOMPLETE package which contains Guitar Rig. I was using the FREE version which is handy and was thrilled to get the real thing. Here is my First Preset!

GUITAR RIG 4 PRESET NAME:

"DOUBLE CHUNK"

DESCRIPTION:

Tubey/Bluesy With WADS of Gain.

Something similar, regardless of the amp or software used, should be put in the main page of every lesson, like for the scale used. It will make easier to recreate the tone of the lesson.
Just my idea.

A new preset for the Guitar Rig 4 Vault. This one is a light gain, tubey, bluesy patch. I wanted to create one without my signature "wall of gain" that Ivan and others might dig. Here is the file and a preview. Enjoy!

Only just seen this too! Great idea.

Will upload some files if I come up with something cool.

Posted by: Todd Simpson Jan 18 2011, 11:35 PM

I think that's a great idea smile.gif Putting a "Tone Tip" with each lesson and maybe including a preset if software was used. Or maybe a little diagram showing amp settings if it's through an amp.

Thanks smile.gif I'm loving GUITAR RIG 4. It comes with the RAMSTEIN add on now which is very handy. I've spent countless hours mucking about with the software to create some cool sounds. I'm going to post all of the good ones here in this thread. If you've got some spiff ones please feel free to share them here smile.gif

Great smile.gif Keep in mind that the free version of GT4 won't let you open these complicated presets, but the demo version should work just fine for that. The free version is great but stripped down.

NEW GUITAR RIG 4 PRESET!

Here is one for lead. High Gain, good bit of Delay, pretty thick FX. In short, a HUGE FXey lead patch. Works well also when you throttle back the gain using your volume knob. Not to mention KILLER response on pinch harmonics. Please 2 Enjoy smile.gif

NEW GUITAR RIG 4 PRESET (Lesson 95 Patch)

*SUPER HIGH GAIN PATCH. Notice the settings on the compressor. This patch assumes you are not using any hardware preamp or anything. It's super sick gain can be too much with an external preamp.

This patch is from this weekends upcoming lesson 95. All of the lessons can be found in the wiki, thank goodness for Fran!

HYPER GAIN GUITAR RIG 4 PRESET

NOTE: No Preamp/External Gear Required. This patch is set to provide wads of gain just using your guitar. I often use a pre-amp before going in to software but as most of you guys don't use a hardware pre-amp, I"m building more patches that work great even if you plug your guitar directly in to your computer through the Mic input or or via recording interface with no gain controls. It's plug and play smile.gif

GMC VIDEO CHAT LESSON 97 CUSTOM TONE PATCH (Saturday Feb 17, 2012)

If you are downloading these patches and they don't have enough gain, try this. I found a cheap cheap cheap distortion box that you use just as a boots (no gain just volume) and it really punches up a guitar emulation patch. smile.gif Here is a quick demo without and then with it. It costs $14-$20 U.S. and is called the FAB Metal Distortion Pedal

1.)FIRST SOUND BIT IS GUITAR RIG 4 PATCH ONLY (No blue light on Pedal)

2.)SECOND SOUND BIT IS GUITAR RIG 4 PATCH WITH PEDAL ( Blue light is on)

(PEDAL SETTINGS: GAIN 0% - TONE 25% - VOLUME 75%)

Man these all sound awesome! I've been using GR3 forever but it looks like I need to see about upgrading. I have a couple patches that I've gotten comfortable with and haven't really even thought about it much but I think I'm going to check it out.

Posted by: Todd Simpson Feb 22 2012, 11:59 PM

Thanks wink.gif All of the patches in this thread are for GUITAR RIG 4, which is the last version before the new shift to GUITAR RIG 5 of course. The good news is, GR5 will let you import all of these GR4 patches as all the previous bits are still under the hood of GR5. They just put new bits on top smile.gif

All of the patches labled "ULTRA GAIN or NO OUTBOARD GEAR REQUIRED" are mean for those who don't have a lot of level control when running dry in to their computer for recording. Many of the others are expecting the user to pull up their input gain to whatever level sounds good so they are a tad less "Gain Heavy". Enjoy!

And do post some recordings with you using these patches! Love to hear it smile.gif

You can down load the "Factory Selection" version of Guitar Rig 5 (Fully Functional/not crippled) with a limited selection of amps/etc. FOR FREE! Here is the link.

http://www.native-instruments.com/#/en/products/producer/guitar-rig-5-player/?page=2467

But if you want to run these preset in this thread you'll need the full version. You can upgrade from GR3 for just a bit of cash an I"d say it's worth it.

Todd

I've been in my TH2 infatuation for quite some time now so I've probably not mentioned this thread as much. sad.gif Looking back through it i really LOVE some of these patches smile.gif Guitar Rig 5 has it's own unique sonic character that I really LOVED for lead work. I like the rythm sound in TH2 better but for some lead bits, still can't beat a good GUITAR RIG patch smile.gif

Please do share some of your presets!! Whether you mod one of these or start from scratch, either way, a great addition to the archive smile.gif Also, try to make a short sound cloud demo for each patch and embed it so that folks can hear the patch before downloading.

Todd

Hi there,

Happy to have found this thread !

I'm currently fighting with guitar rig 5 to find a decent tone in order to play the "guitar loves piano" lesson.
I've begin with the "rocker git" preset but it's a little bit too harsh and I don't succeed to make it warmer.
Hopefully one of your presets will help me.

At this moment, it sounds like this
