Posted by: kaznie_NL Jan 22 2008, 05:20 PM

Ok, well I'll be hearing form you xucphra (gosh get another name!!.. lol from now on i'll cal you bob k?). I'm busy now trying some of the rhythm guitar, but do you want improvisation solo's or the realy song. Maybe it's an idear first to do the whole song to get the teamwork going, and then do loose solos. ow and Ps, Chris with the bas, do you just copie those form the GP5 file?

Hi Kaz,

Thats right first of all concetrate on the rhythm, and after that we can what else can we add. If u have any problems with the song please let me know.

Bye.

Here's a first attempt on the first rythm part. I can't mannage to get the carasteristic (spelled wrong..) tudu tududuh tu duh if you know what I mean laugh.gif I used a harmonic with five frets diffrence and It's recorded directly usingn the line input thanks to Smells for that!
I know it says "kort" that's dutch for short:P

Posted by: coffeeman Jan 24 2008, 03:16 AM

HI Kaz ,

That is a nice attempt, the rhythm is not as easy as it looks. I will record a video showing you an easier lick for u to practice it.

See ya , and keep practicing.

You mean the
E-------------------------------
B-------------------------------
G-------------------------------
D--------0-3-0----0------------
A---0-3--------3---------------
E--------------------------------
part? I noticed the rhythm part doens't sound bad, but it also dowsn't sound great.. It sounds a bit out of tune, maybe it's bad effect use, or the harmonic isn't good.

C' mon guys, we need to be more active I' the only one who loaded up somgething! And xucphra, you haven't said a thing. C'mon guys1!

HI Guys,

Here is the rhythm for the intro and the chorus, let me know when you're ready , Kaz with the lick I showed on the video and alex with the higher lick , after that we can start working on the other parts of the song.

Voila, here's my V2! I used multple guitar layers, who use multple effects. I also put a bit of the solo in it. It's still just the first partst. here they are. Hope the names are selfexplanating. The one without an extra extension like BT or solo is the one with just the rhythmic part.

Posted by: kaznie_NL Feb 5 2008, 05:25 PM

C'mon lads, why does someone have to tell you to come on the forum (oh no..I'm starting to sound like a school teacher) Xucph, or Bob, you should be on the forum more, it's your VB remember?

Posted by: coffeeman Feb 5 2008, 08:27 PM

Hi Kaz ,

How is that lick I showed u going ? IM waiting for your take and for alex take , u with the lick on the video and alex with the other lick the higher one.

You want me to do the part u showed.. ok, have you heard the last post of mine? it concluded a much better rhythmic part, but you already did the best one. I also did the high lick on that. You want me to do you the lick on you video instead of the high solo? Is that a harmonic with the high solo?

thnx for being online, and a little quistion, are you band leader or is Bob?

grtz,

kaz

Posted by: coffeeman Feb 6 2008, 10:22 PM

Hey Kaz,

Yes you did a good work with that high lick , it needs just a litle mor practice and u will nail it , play the lick that you feel more comforatble with , it does not have to be the one I showed u , if u want to play the higher lick go ahead. Alex is the band leader but I havent speak with him in a couple of the days so , in the meanwhile we can work.

Thanks.

I have spoken to Alex ( so his name is Alex.. no Bob or Xucphra anymore) I have his MSN so I spoke to him yesterday, he said he was gone for a while and that he was back now. Het told me he'd be online again.

Second, I'd like to do the high solo. I dont' have big hands, I'm still a kid so it's more like tiny hands. The the high solo is a bit easier then the lower one so I'll do that one.

Thnx for leading this VB,

Kaz

Posted by: coffeeman Feb 8 2008, 02:37 PM

Perfect Kaz, if you feel more comfortable with that lick , do it. Let me know when you r ready.

Posted by: coffeeman Feb 20 2008, 04:35 PM

Hi Kaz,

How is that lick going? do you have it ? Please let me know if you need any help.

I will upload the other lick today , maybe it can help you if you play your lick over the rythm and the low lick.

Let me know mate.

bye.

The lick is pretty difficult, but I think I can handle it. It won't sound as good as yours, but therefore I'm beginner tongue.gif . I have latency problems, and that just kills me. I just tried another record, but the timing is realy bad...that sucks

No problem Kaz. What software are u using ? Keep practicing! Ill record the 2 licks so u can practice over it.

Posted by: coffeeman Feb 20 2008, 06:20 PM

So, since Layla isnt working, I thought we can change the song. So there are to options , we can work on an original song of our own , I have a couple of ideas, or we can pick another cover song.

Is there a specific song you would like to play Kaz and Alex?

Please let me know so we can start working a.s.a.p

Bye.

EDIT here was a sentence which I shouldn'te have said rolleyes.gif

I'll PM smells about it (I'm his "pm buddy") and ask him to try and get some more people in the VB. You do great work Jeff, you realy helped me, but I can't handle all the more tricky parts and Alex just does nothing...

For a new song? Well I first thought of Still got the Blues, but I think that song is bit to hard. I'm not very into the blues, but I'll give it a look!

BTW I use reaper, ASIO doesn't work for me... I have already made the buffer smaller, but then still I have round 80 ms latency. Maybe we could do Hey Joe??

Actually I think the hole band sucks...That's rough said.

The whole band are Alex , you and me. So? Thats why Im trying to do something different. Who's jeff?

It doesn't have to be a Blues song , I was thinking in Another Brick in the Wall by Pink Floyd, its a nice song and its easy to play.

If that song doesn't work either , we will try it with a song of our own, and if that doesn't works we will try it with another song , but we have to finish one song , and see if we really suck or not.

So lets go to work.

Hey Joe is an awesome song , we could try it , but I think we have to start with an easier song. If you can play it , lets go for it.

Posted by: kaznie_NL Feb 22 2008, 08:03 PM

I just saw some more of Hey Joe and indeed it's prety hard. btw I am confusing you with Jeff al the time..So where I stated Jeff I ment you tongue.gif I'l listen to the Pink Floyd song!

Posted by: Smells Feb 23 2008, 12:59 AM

Hi Kaz

I got your PM and I`ve replied but seeing your above post here prompted me into jumping in the thread here also, I appreciate your frustration but try and remain a little patient, Coffeeman is trying to help you here and if you listen to him you can learn a lot from him.
remember that this was originally set up as an "intermediate" band so he is trying to pick and let you choose songs that you can play so you can be involved smile.gif

Just as a suggestion, what about some rock n roll type songs, corny I know but Jonny B goode? something like that?

Keep cool Kaz wink.gif

Posted by: kaznie_NL Feb 23 2008, 10:20 AM

Sorry about it Smells and Coffeeman. My appologies (I can't write that word right tongue.gif )

Coffeman: I listened to the Pink Floyd song, it sounds prety nice! The solo is prety long, so we could split it up and both do a piece of it!

Smells: I saw the the Jonny B good, I think that has some harder parts in it, buy maybe Coffee could do those parts and I could do the more easy ones!

Personally I like RHCP a lot, and if we search an easy song, just to begin with. We could do Californiacation, it's realy easy so we could be done with that sone within a week or two. Maybe that's good to get started!
I also love the Police, but I don't know how hard those songs are to play.

Posted by: kaznie_NL Feb 23 2008, 05:08 PM

BTW now adays I'm totaly into Alain Clark's Father and Friend!!

Posted by: coffeeman Feb 24 2008, 01:13 AM

Imworking on the drums and bass of Another brick in the wall , I will upload the BT a.s.a.p. start practicing that one, and as always if u need any help , let me know.

Posted by: kaznie_NL Feb 24 2008, 10:44 AM

The structure of the song is a bit different then normal. I'll listen it some more times and also with the GP5 files.

Posted by: Sam Hook Feb 24 2008, 12:15 PM

Hey guys,
I've been speaking to Smells recently and he said there is a possible space in this band for another guitarist and was I wondering if I could join.

I think Smells has spoken to Coffeman who said it was fine but I thought I would just check with everyone else first if it is OK for me to join.

There are some short uploads which I posted a while back http://www.guitarmasterclass.net/guitar_forum/index.php?showtopic=9867which may give you an idea of my playing ability and recording and there is also a small collab I was in http://www.guitarmasterclass.net/guitar_forum/index.php?showtopic=10827.

I understand that you about to start work on Another Brick in the Wall by Pink Floyd which is totally fine with me, I'm pretty open to what music I do.

Let me know what you guys want to do, thanks. biggrin.gif

Posted by: kaznie_NL Feb 24 2008, 01:32 PM

I think it's great!! This gives Coffeeman and me some more rest..aah.....

For me you're in!

Posted by: coffeeman Feb 24 2008, 08:54 PM

You are more than welcome dude! I listened to your recordings and you are just in the right spot for our band. Im working on the BT for the song. So start prcticing the song and tell me with which part do you feel more comfortable, same for Kaz, we have 2 clean rythm guitars, one riff distortion guitar , in the chorus we have one clean rythm and on distortion rythm , so lets go to work and let me know guys.

Posted by: kaznie_NL Feb 24 2008, 09:11 PM

hmm.. I'll try the rhythm guitar part which is first in my GP5 file. It's he riff which uses mostly the same chords, but with diffrent rhythmic pieces every time. Do you know what I mean? The chord was this if I remember right:
eadgbe
557765

Posted by: Sam Hook Feb 24 2008, 11:08 PM

Cool, thanks a lot guys.

And yes that is the chord Kaz, it's Dminor.

As for me, I really don't mind what I play in the song. Just tell me which part to learn and I'll do it.

biggrin.gif

Posted by: kaznie_NL Feb 25 2008, 02:12 PM

I think the solo is just a bit to fast for me tongue.gif . so that's for you or coffee. Then in the chorus, there is the Dm chord but isn't there also a clean guitar doing another chord? And what needs to be played on the intro? I think this will be my main problem, the song structure. For me it's like it has no structure tongue.gif We'll make it into something good!

Posted by: Sam Hook Feb 25 2008, 07:07 PM

Hey Kaz, which GP5 version of the song are you using? Maybe if I find it I can help you out a bit with the structure of the song.

Are you using "Another Brick In The Wall (ver 5)" from Ultimate-Guitar?

Sam.

Posted by: kaznie_NL Feb 25 2008, 07:21 PM

I got the one u use, I get it now! Only I'm not sure which line I should do. I think I should do the easiest, what do you think that is?

Posted by: Sam Hook Feb 25 2008, 07:36 PM

Rhythm Guitar 1 + Rhythm Guitar 2 look pretty similar to me, they both basically play the same chords but at different places on the guitar.

So, try both them out and you can choose whichever one you feel most comfortable with. biggrin.gif

You are totally right , and I think it is important to record both rythm guitars. And there is a riff guitar , can u hear it ? it goes with the melody of the song.

Sam how do you fell with the solo , can you play it ? If you can go for it , if not I will play it.

I'll upload the BT tonight (its 2 pm right now) so you can start practicing and recording.

Kaz try with the lick that goes with the melody of the song, and let me know.

Posted by: Sam Hook Feb 25 2008, 08:43 PM

Yes, I hear it, I think. Do you mean the bit which goes along with the vocal melody?

And as for the solo, hmmm...do you mind doing it?

I may try a solo on our next song, but for now, I think I'll just stick with rhythm and see how I get on.

If that's OK with you? biggrin.gif

Posted by: kaznie_NL Feb 26 2008, 02:08 PM

Coffee: I know which part you mean, the one with octave shape and goes up and down with the "we don't want no eductaion" . I'll get practicing on the Dminor, It's not realy hard I just have to get that rhythm. So you do the solo? That's fine, I think some parts are prety fast, so if you can deal with those, that's great!! BTW how do you make these backings?

Hi Kaz,

Thats the Lick! As you say its not a hard lick but it needs practice. Yes Im making the solo, and another rythm guitar unless sam wants to do both guitar which we'll be cool, a clean one in the phrases and another in the chorus. Im making the BT with fruity loops, I wish I had a bass and drums, in the meanwhile I use that software.

In the meantime while I upload the BT, practice with this one http://www.gilmourish.com/wp-content/downloads/anotherbrick2_backingtrack.mp3

Posted by: kaznie_NL Feb 27 2008, 10:51 AM

My brother has a bas..Maybe if I ask it him, he'll try. The bad thing is that he isn't very good rolleyes.gif I'm even better then him! But I can ask, maybe (this is even more "maybe" then asking my bro) I can do it myself, but I don't make any promises on that.

Posted by: kaznie_NL Feb 29 2008, 08:28 PM

BTW I say the lead line, I'll do that accept for the solo. It's has the Riff we spoke about (with the octave shapes) and it also has some powerchords which are easy enough for me! To have it clear, it's the lead line on the GP5 file SamHook was talking about, the version 5.

Posted by: Smells Mar 11 2008, 09:36 PM

Here ya go guys, hope its ok, Coffeeman, just let me know if you want or need anything changed.

Ók, let's get started'. I think I can easily do this within this week, it's such an easy part for me. I have time enough so maybe I could give the mixing a shot? never done it before though, but if you do it aswell, coffee, then we can compare!

thnx smells tongue.gif

Cool, thanks Smells!

I'll get working on my bits. biggrin.gif

Posted by: kaznie_NL Mar 16 2008, 06:57 PM

Ok, I've been busy and I have a little problem. When exactly should I start playing the octave licks?? I first tried right at the beginning but that's not it. I'd probably need to start a bit later.

BTW what are we gonna do with vocals?? I might have given it a trie if not my voice is totaly diffrent from pink floyd's. I'm just a little boy with a high voice tongue.gif

Posted by: kaznie_NL Mar 23 2008, 08:12 PM

Anyone?

Posted by: Sam Hook Mar 24 2008, 11:28 AM

Hey Kaz,
The backing track has an extra 4 more bars at the beginning than the GP5 file does. So you will need so start playing the octave chords after 4 bars (not including the count in as a bar).
If that sounds a bit confusing just start playing at 00:00:11 seconds on the backing track.

As for the vocals, I don't really mind who does them, as long as it's not me. tongue.gif
I heard your cover of 'In the Midnight Hour' and it sounded great so if you want to give the vocals a try that fine by me.

Thnx man, I know what you mean with the bars. Well, I think I can try the vocals, but as said before the singer of the original song, Pink Floyd, has a very very diffrent voice then I have. Maybe we can do the " we don't need no blah blah blah" stuff together? In the original it's more voices at once aswell! haha maybe my dad can sing along, he can sing but I don't realy think I can get him do that lolz tongue.gif

Hey sam when can you upload the rythm guitar?

Posted by: Sam Hook Apr 1 2008, 03:41 PM

Great job Kaz! biggrin.gif

I have been having a few problems with my computer recently, but everything is back to normal now so I should be able to post it within the next 2-3 days.

Which part will you be doing Coffeeman?

Posted by: coffeeman Apr 1 2008, 03:57 PM

I will be doing the vocals with my horrible voice , and the guitar solo , if you want me to do some rythm or something else , please let me know.

Posted by: Sam Hook Apr 1 2008, 04:04 PM

Cool, sounds good to me.

Posted by: kaznie_NL Apr 2 2008, 05:37 PM

Sam and I firstly agreed to let me do vocals, but maybe my voice doesn't match with this song, just check the members only board for midnight hour, which I did with vocals. You can do it, maybe I can try some background vocals, or we do the chorus together? You just do it first then I can see what I do with it, but if you don't like doing vocals, I can give it a shot!

btw...we realy need a cool signature for the VB, but I'm very bad with photoshop and stuff. Maybe one of you?

Posted by: coffeeman Apr 2 2008, 05:49 PM

ok , i'll sing the first part of the song , and you sing the second one. I suck at photoshop too.

Posted by: Smells Apr 2 2008, 07:33 PM

I had a go for ya but this was about the best I could come up with, I suck at it too laugh.gif

Hey guys. Sorry I've been gone for so long. I had some family issues, because my mom's husband had died, and I had to travel to the UK to help my mom get her life back on track. So I'm back and I'm sure I missed lots. Anyone want to bring me up to speed?

Speaking of which, I had recorded a couple original tracks you guys might want to hear, which I will upload as soon as I can.

EDIT: I'm also working on a logo for us happy.gif

DOUBLE EDIT: Any thoughts on having an animated logo? I can do it, just wondering what you guys think?

DOUBLE EDIT: Any thoughts on having an animated logo? I can do it, just wondering what you guys think?

first off all my sorry to hear from your mom's husband (not your dad?). Then to talk you up to date, we've dropped the Layla thing, parts because of you missing, parts because it was to hard for me. Now we're doing another brick in the wall by Pink Floyd. The lead guitar is already done by me, Sam Hook sais he's almost ready to record his rhythm guitar parts and Coffeeman is gonna do the solo and he and me (not sure yet) are gonna do the vocals. Maybe it's wise to skip this one Xucphra (o no.. the name again, pls tel me your first name, that would be handy tongue.gif )? Just because we've already taken all the spots

about the logo, an animated logo is cool, but I think maybe it's a bit to busy. I think a normal picture is better. For instance your sig with the guitars look nice, but I see them as a bit hmm.. flashy. That's just my view, not to offend you. Ow, and Coffeeman is the bandleader now. and Sam Hook is the new member.

grtz and welcome back,

Kaz

EDIT I've seen the vocals are ok now. Ofcourse we can always change later.

Hi Alex,

Sorry about your family. I hope your mom is feeling better these days.

Lets wait until this song is ready, and we can start working with another one, ok?

I feel sorry for you, but unfortunatly the spots are gone here. You can help with the vocals and mixing (unless coffee want to do this).

How's the progress guys? This takes prety long, can you do it this upcoming weekend maybe? We still need coffeeman's solo and Sam's rhythm guitar!

Posted by: coffeeman Apr 20 2008, 01:18 AM

Here is the solo, it has a couple of mistakes I will try to uplaod a new one.

 ABITW_Solo_with_BT.mp3 ( 1.23MB ) : 235

 ABITW_solo_no_BT.mp3 ( 1.23MB ) : 209

thanks Coffeman! It indeed sounds a bit diffrent (bends are a bit off right?), but good effort anyway. It's not realy an easy solo. Good Job biggrin.gif

How's the song coming up guys smile.gif

Posted by: coffeeman May 7 2008, 02:30 PM

Hey Sam,

How is the rythm part of the song going? Lets finish the song. PLease let us know.

Thanks.

Posted by: kaznie_NL May 7 2008, 05:57 PM

I tried to contact Sam a couple of times, but he doesn't seem to answer. I've send a PM today, maybe he will respond this time?

Posted by: kaznie_NL May 10 2008, 05:23 PM

Sorry, Sam didn't react again...Xucphra, this could be your chance to get in! I think if you do the Rythm guitar before Sam does, your take will be the one

Posted by: coffeeman May 10 2008, 05:25 PM

OK, Kydlee if you want to upload the rythm guitar you can do it too. If not I will upload it so we can finish the song.

Thanks.

Posted by: kyldeee May 10 2008, 05:26 PM

Okay, so is it the Another brick in the wall???

Posted by: coffeeman May 10 2008, 05:28 PM

Exactly , rythm guitar for the verses and chorus.

Posted by: kyldeee May 10 2008, 05:39 PM

Damn this is going to be hard, not really a rhythm player smile.gif

Posted by: kaznie_NL May 10 2008, 05:50 PM

Sorry kyldeee, are you in the VB aswell now? That's cool biggrin.gif A little but... I just contacted Xucphra telling him that he could do the rhythm guitar instead of Sam... well, I don't know if he wants but it'd be a bit stupid if you do it now. Maybe whait for a couple of days (like three) and then I'll know Xucphra's answer.

Posted by: kyldeee May 10 2008, 05:52 PM

Maybe it's better that you do it coffeeman, cause tomorrow is mothers day and the monday I'm busy at work, so I don't have any time to practise it, sorry guys sad.gif But I'll be part for the next song, is it okay???

Hank. These are Virtual Bands and you have to note your interest in the Virtual Bands forum and join a Band or start a new band. Smells is in charge of Virtual Bands so you're best asking him if you want more information

If you don't want to do another voice over it, it's ok. It'd be cool if you could double some voices, like on the chorus or on the " Leave them kids alone" part? I think it's cool! I want it finished as well.

I propose this:
If you, coffeeman, can do a bit more vocals within this week, do it. If you don't have time we'll just leave it. Also the first part of the solo isn't quit right. Here I'd say the same: if it's possible within a week, do it. Otherwise don't.

It's so nice to hear all these people saying they like the vocals biggrin.gif .

EDIT: I' need to get the sounds I make out biggrin.gif that was for latency fixing biggrin.gif I'l get rid of it tomorow. Can someone do some EQ to get the buzzing gone? btw..the doubled vocals are a bit weird in the start, but then they go prety nice biggrin.gif

EDIT2: I'm just so proud of our work tongue.gif just three people (including Smells)!!

Posted by: kaznie_NL Jun 15 2008, 07:08 PM

Well, coffee if you don't I can already upload the final verysion if you don't want to redo takes. If you do just do it and I'll mix em in.

Here it is guys: almost the same biggrin.gif

Yep, but coffee and I aren't exactly the best logo creators (no offence biggrin.gif ) Smells did a try though, but it was....not quit right tongue.gif You can give it a go if you want!!

If I should try, what kind of program would I need to make one????

Posted by: kaznie_NL Jun 18 2008, 07:06 PM

Well, probably Photoshop would do it biggrin.gif. It isn't realy easy, but using some templates and images from the internet you should get quit far! You might also wanna use online banner generators, they can make cool texts in a certain style. Then you could, for instance, take the text out of the rest of the banner and use it in the background you made!

Posted by: kaznie_NL Jul 15 2008, 02:23 PM

coffeeman doesn't react to my PM's... I think we should finish this project, but I'm not the leader. Cofee is, but he seems inactive. I'd say we just give it a week and if he hasn't responded before then (21-07-08), we'll just keep this as our final sound. What do you think of that Kyldee?

I'm sorry if this isn't what Coffeeman wants, but he's not around unsure.gif

Posted by: kyldeee Jul 15 2008, 02:32 PM

Yeah, sounds good to me, I actually meant to ask what's going on since I haven't seen Coffee in a long time, but the track sounds fine to me, so if Smells is cool with it, I suggest that we start a new project, and finish this, if Coffeeman doesn't show up soon smile.gif

Posted by: kaznie_NL Jul 15 2008, 02:34 PM

Ok, then here's the official message:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If Coffeeman doesn't react on the PM's or on this board within a week from now, we'll finish this and start a new project.

That would do the job tongue.gif

Posted by: kaznie_NL Jul 17 2008, 11:05 AM

Also if you wanna give it a shot, no problem! It's to hard for me biggrin.gif btw, how are things going with the logo?

Posted by: kyldeee Jul 22 2008, 02:54 PM

I didn't even try and make one since I'm no good, and I don't have any programs to make such things, I guess I could give it a try, but I'm not promising anything smile.gif

Yeah, I think we can leave it like that, sounds good enough for me smile.gif for the next song I was hoping something a little bit more bluesy. I don't have anything in mind right now, but soon as I do I'll let u know, but this sounds good also, although I'm not a big fan of Lenny smile.gif

Maybe Eric Clapton http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fHPWoDsyE6M or http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z0WO8XoVWes

We can try Layla again, but it would be very stupid if it was to hard again. I'll pm Smells about our finished song!

I'd like something from the RHCP or somehting from Eric Clapton. It's good to have some blues in the men in blues. Maybe J.J. Cale?? Cocain is easy, we could do that in two weeks time. Maybe not enough different guitar lines in there.

Update: Change the World and Bad Love both seem a bit hard for me.. sorry I also thought of Sultans of swing from the dire straits, but again it can be hard. This I could do the easier stuff and you two could add the harder pieces maybe?
