I'm really happy to introduce a new GMC instructor from Hungary. His name is Krisztian Lovrek, and he is a very sophisticated guitar player.

Krisztian is working on his new solo album, and he managed to contact some of his greatest influences, Mr. Kee Marcello (ex-Europe), who agreed to record a solo on Krisztian's album.

Krisztian, will you please tell us how you managed to succeed in this matter?

Welcome Krisztian - it's very inspiring to hear your playing and read about your approach (reminds me of Shawn Lane's "Powers of ten" where he recorded everything by himself), very much looking forward to your lessons! smile.gif

Hello Everybody!

First I'd like to thank you for your kind words Zsolt! I'm very happy to be here!

About my album: This won't be a real solo record, because this is not instrumental stuff!
I believe in the power of the vocals songs. Aside from guitar playing I sing, I write lyrics, music, and a few months ago I started to play on drums and bass as well.
I got almost everything that I need to record my musics at home, and the song-writing period is almost done..only a few things missing. Anyway, my band's name is Illusion.
It seems that I will play on every instuments on the album, but after recording, I'll search for the right musicians to play live.
There will be 10 songs on the record, without any compromises, that's why there are some songs, which are over 10 minutes long smile.gif
Actually I finished a new one, which will be 15 minutes long smile.gif

About the music: The style is metal with a tons of killer riffs, grooves, solos, and with very serious lyrics. Sometimes a bit progressive, but not too much smile.gif
If I had to define what kind of music this is that I would say : Imagine a band where Dimebag and James Hetfield writes the riffs, John Petrucci plays the solos, Mike Portnoy plays on drums, and Hetfield sings.
In the video embedded here you can find a solo from one of my songs.

About Kee: He is one of my favourite musicians, not only as a guitar player, because like me, he's doing a lot of things, so he is a real musician! His K2 record (Melon Demon Divine) my favourite rock album ever.
I searched for him, and I invited him to play a solo on my record, if it's possible. He told me that he would like to see/hear something about the record, because he won't accept it if he doesn't like it.

Finally I showed him the part that I had in mind ( the solo of "In the Hands of Fate" )
and his feedback was awesome. He really loved it, and he accepted my invitation. So I was very honored and of course still I am.

Here is the mentioned solo:

Welcome Krisztian!
I can't wait to hear a full song from your album, it must be amazing (when I read what the music will be like)!
That brings one thing to my mind for your first lesson: How about a lesson "riffs in the style of James Hetfield"? That would be great!

Thanks Kris, to be honest originally I didn't want to do this, because I think the best situation if you have a great band with great musicians, and they are your friends. The real magic is if some people plays together, and the chemistry between the members create the music.
Unfortunately I couldn't find these guys for a long time :-) I know a lot of great musicians, but you know, it's not so easy to find the guys that you need all round.
Actually I got fed up with always having to wait for others, and I started to do everything alone :-) The work is very hard, but I really enjoy it, I learn a lot of things, about the recording, sounds, drum playing, everything. It's so exciting.

Anyway, I really like Shawn Lane ( R.I.P.) I remember when I saw his instructional video. After that I cried biggrin.gif
At that time I told myself " I don't have any problem with the speed, I already can play everything" :-)
And I tried to play one of his lick. The run started to low E to high E and then back to low E.
When I arrived to high E he just finished the whole lick..I couldn't believe it :-) He was amazing, so sad that he leaves us..:-(

Hehe it's funny I have felt the exact same thing - so I have also tried to become as independent as possible as far as song writing/recording goes.

Maybe you should try bringing in some musicians over the Internet? I have recorded all songs with Marcus Lavendell (you can find his lessons on the site) over the Internet and I am working on a new one here with Trond - it's very inspiring!

Either way I must agree with what what Gitarrero said - your mix of influences sounds awesome - can't wait to hear it!

:-) My first lesson is help to practice the 16 notes picking, and build up a solo, but the 2nd one is a riff lesson, not really like Jamyz, but I hope you'll like it.
In the future I plan to do a lot of things, solos, riffs, covers, exercises, but mainly I'd like to find the way how could I build up a full instructional material, from "how could you set up your guitar" (neck, strings action, etc.) to "how could you play the hardest guitar solos".
I have a lot of ideas, I hope that I could achieve them.

Agreed, Shawn was out of this world - very few can compete with his sense for music - and on top of that he was one of the most extreme shredders ever - unbelievable!

I think if the album will release suddenly a lot of musicians want to play in my band..:-)
You know, until you don't have anything many people doesn't want to help you, only for money.
If you'll have something the situation start to change..

Yes, he is! I also remember a very poor quality video where a lot of Ibanez Artists play together..I think about in 1991..
Paul Gilbert, Reb Beach, Satriani, Steve Vai, and Shawn Lane.
These rock icons play their good stuff but after Lane comes and he did not leave a stone standing :-) Incredible.
