Hey GMC'ers!
I've been looking for a new 7 string guitar for a while now. I've tried both active and passive mic's and found out that I'm not a big fan of the active ones. After a lot of looking have I found a guitar that seems nice. The problem is that it does not exist in Swedish music stores and therefore I could need some help from others who tried it or even owns it.
And also, would that be a good price for that guitar? Or what else could I get for the same money?

Thank you very much!

I've been looking for a 7-string guitar but I really don't know what to get. I'd like it to have floyd rose, that's like all I konw tongue.gif The price class is about $1500. I've been checking for Schecter and Ibanez but any brand is good smile.gif

Anyone knows any good 7-string guitar, with or withour FR, please tell me.
Thanks

Hey David!
First of all, I just love your lessons about the different modes, they've helped me alot and I think that they're just great.
And it was maybe a week ago when I struggled a bit with different modes that everything just came clear to me and suddenly I understood everything, how it related to eachother and stuff. And now I would really like to start practicing changing between modes while improvising. The problem is that I have no idea how to make a realatively good sounding backing tack. I'd like it to go one step up each time it changes (Ionian -> Dorian -> Phrygian...) at first and then when I've done some practice with that I'll make a backing that switches "randomly".

So if you could provide me with some help how I could build up a chord progression for the modes I'd be really happy!

Thanks!

Hey there GMC!

About two months ago I started with this "musical project" of mine, a song that would improve me not only as a guitarist, but also as a musician and songwriter. The song itself could maybe fit inside the genre "Technical progressive metal" or something like that and I'm playing it with my band.

When I started I had really no idea what to do, or how to do it. For example, I had never before written a single bassline and just a few drumlines and I had never even dreamed about writing a song in this kind of difficult music. But as a fan of odd time signatures I started working on some ideas.
Now, two months and alot of work later I have almost every part I need for the song. Note that it is far from done, for example no part has been repeated yet. Also note that I've written every single note and track completely by myself and with just a little feedback on a drumline. Due to this enormous lack of feedback and critique I now turn to all of you GMC:ers who would like to help.

What I'd like you to check for:
- Parts that "annoy" you in some way, maybe you don't feel the groove or such
- Things that just feels "to much"

...and ofcourse, what you like and and what you DON'T like (especially this) and why.
And please, please spam me with stuff to improve, remove, redo or whatever!

I'll provide a GP 5.2 tab and a GP4 tab for those of you who use older versions.

Thank you very much!
//Kim

I have a question about how to find the correct mode.

Lets say we compose a jazzy II - V - I progression, for example in C major.
Then we would get the chords dm7 - G7 - Cmaj7.

And now we want to make a solo over this backing, how do we find out the correct mode to use over which chord?
My guess now is that over the dm7 chord, we have a flat 7th and should therefore use a mode with that; the mixolydian mode. And since the mixolydian scale is the 4th mode in C major, we go 4 steps from the C and finds F. So over our dm7 chord we use F mixolydian scale.

Or now I'm getting confused, since the G7 also has a flat 7th, aare we going to use the F mixolydian again and then go for C Ionian over the Cmaj7?

Please help me understand this mess tongue.gif
Thanks!
