The Fed’s Raid on Gibson Guitars.
Here are some details and a 10 minute interview with CEO of Gibson Henry E. Juszkiewicz.

This just happened so I'm sure the feds will have something to say about this soon as well. Ridiculous? Yes, yes it is.

Crazy - Use of wood from India that is not finished by Indian workers is illegal...
This action was taken without the support and consent of the government in India.

Obama read on the internet, wood supplies are low and wants to stock up on some for himself? (like all them hidden oil reserves)
How much wood would a wood chuck, chuck, if a wood chuck, could chuck wood?

Well, what to say, Gibson is having hard time atm. I'm not familiar with that case, so cannot really comment, it could be that they did obtained wood illegally, or that administration is just following laws blindly, who knows.

I'm sure there is more to this story than this tiny snippet of news. I'm not saying Gibson is guilty of anything, in fact I doubt they would purchase exotic wood at astronomical prices and not advertise the fact that their guitars are made from said woods. We all know the use of exotic woods is more of a marketing gimmick than anything else. The cause of this raid probably has nothing to do with the use of illegal woods; the FBI wouldn't spend all these resources and plan such a raid for something a few investigators could solve. I'm almost certain there is another dimension to this story that has yet to be revealed. I also highly doubt the notion that Obama masterminded this raid while perched over his bubbling cauldron of frog eyes and witches warts.

But what a weird thing on the serious side.. i don't think we know the whole thing yet.

It is not Obama directly doing this but just like with any President it is his administration and the agencies he is in control of. Even if Gibson is using some kind of (illegal) exotic wood, which is very doubtful, I wouldn't give a rip.

I will start caring about " endangered wood" oh I don't know.... right around about NEVER.

Well, I see that the only individual presidential candidate the CEO has contributed to directly is a Creationist who does not believe that CO2 is causing global warming. I expect the CEO does not believe that deforestation in the tropics is a serious global problem with long term deleterious ramifications for mankind.

I consider it unlikely that Obama even knew about this, it would not have reached nearly to that level. That being said, I do know that the EPA for example has acted in a vindictive way in the past. This may have been such a move, or it might be justifiable to any conscientious person who cares about the future and future generations. We will have to wait and see. But I sure as heck am not taking what some CEO or some blogs with a political agenda try to preach too seriously.

If there is some other ulterior motive to this raid, than yes, it is wrong and immoral. Politicians should not use their power to gain a political advantage over their opponents.

But why don't you care about endangered species of wood? If it weren't for conservation efforts, there would be no alder, no mahogany, or any other wood typically used for guitar construction available for guitar construction. Would you want to live in a world with no guitars made from these materials? I don't understand your logic. In fact, I'm not even sure if the word "logic" could be bestowed upon your position So what is your plan for when these woods are no longer available? What do you find so reprehensible about preserving nature?

It's the second time I read about Gibson and good wood running out this summer, I guess in 30 years from now all new guitars will be made of plastic

Yeah, wooden guitars will definitely be part of history soon

Still plenty of wood available....we can make guitars out of old railroad wood.
