Ducktape?
Or if you don't wanna tape your guitar: two long items you can tape together behind and on the string side of the neck, like: CODE tape here __________| |________ | | <--- Neck of the guitar __________| |________ | | tape here Edited for coding.. Hmm I don't think you will manage to make a capo at home..It needs to be precisely built in order to work (rubber on the string side , precise clipping force)...I don't know if trying to tape something to your neck would be a great help , and you may end up with annoying glue residue on the neck from the tape

Most of the time, I just take pencil, bunch of gums - those.. which I dont know how to call I put the pencil on fret and use the gums behind the neck to cause pressure:)
A bit like samhook, but I use one pencil, connected on both sides behind neck:) Its simple;) -------------------- my youtube account with riffs and ideas: https://www.youtube.com/user/Phoenygzus

I think Jakub's idea is better, because gums are soft and will not damage the wood like that 2nd pencil could.

@ Ivan: Yup, it is better - the only bad thing is, that your strings - if you want capo electric guitar strings, will scratch chips of wood out of the pencil, so your strings might get damaged.
If that is the case, then try marker, with body made of plastic;) EDIT: Typo.. This post has been edited by Jakub Luptovec: Sep 22 2008, 03:44 PM -------------------- my youtube account with riffs and ideas: https://www.youtube.com/user/Phoenygzus

Not everyone has guitar shop next to house:) Also.. sometimes, its more about laying guitar down and not practicing, than the few bucks
