I had some minor changes over the years but it was nothing too big - the biggest change was switching from Angelo's to Rusty style. As you can see in my lessons and Rusty's playing your right hand is not always in a fist so it's no big deal
Btw. if you noticed an improvement with different way of holding your pick make sure it's comfortable for long-time playing. Sometimes we think it's better some way, but it can only be better for like 5 seconds shred runs. It's important that you can play it like that for a long period of time and not get tired If you can play the whole practice session like that, with no tension and without getting tired in your muscles than it's great and you should continue like that Also, important thing is to pick using the wrist and the other fingers can sure have slightly different position - Petrucci is excellent picker so if you do it like him you're doing fine Good luck man and shoot more questions if you need -------------------- "It isn't how many years you have been playing, it's how many hours." -- Prashant Aswani "PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE!" -- Michael Angelo Batio Check out my video lessons and instructor board! |
