Ok young warriors, have no fear.. it looks a lot worse than it is ! The hardest part will probably be memorising it wink.gif

This is purely focusing on pull offs so it will work on your finger muscle control, which will help your overall legato. The good news is that I'm not expecting you do this at full speed so please just choose a tempo that is manageable enough for you.

If you come through the other side of this in one piece I may even give you something musical like a solo to learn next time.... ph34r.gif

Oops, nearly forgot.. Deadline next Thursday 12th April or I remove an entire foot. That will make getting round The Temple a little difficult.

Good stuff again Ben. Because this technique is quite hard to master, it'a good to stay on it for a while. Feeling the Challenge. ph34r.gif

Yeah, yeah... dry.gif Don't think so.
As I want to keep my parts, I'm coming here ! wink.gif I've tried this lesson because I have difficulties with the intermediate Task 10 and 11 because of the pull-offs. So I'm trying to work on those two levels at the same time. It's kind of a torture for the fingers... But I love it rolleyes.gif
If you could please comment, that is always encouraging.
Thanks.

That's a sexy tone... to be honest, there's not much to correct, if anything. Just keep at it and try and see if you can make some speed increases by next week smile.gif

Hello,

here is my take for this week's lesson :

Thank you for your take, Olivier.. you get to keep both of your feet this time wink.gif

How did you find the Task ?

I think the backing track was too fast for you, you get left behind quite a few times.. so I would continue working on this at a lower speed as it shows that your fingers definitely need this ! smile.gif

Well I felt that this task was a bit like weight lifting but this is all about training the pinky muscles !
So what I did was to practice the all lesson once, then take a short break of 20sec to 1mn to prevent my left hand from burning, and then do it again, and again, and again, agaigaigain smile.gif

Mr Ben here are my attempts. I had a go at full speed and got through it a couple of times but it wasn't pretty. Pretty cool lesson. I feel I've moved forward with the legato in these recent weeks.
Cheers Ben.

Hey Ben,
thanks for your comment. I've been working on this lesson all the week. I can't play it at 145 bpm. Here is a take at 120 bpm. I tried to be as even I could at this speed. Not sure it will be enough to keep a foot though ohmy.gif
À bientôt.

Zoom, I think your guitar is not in tune. You seem to be a half step too high... You just have to redo a take now wink.gif Cheers.

Hey Z ! These are good.. you don't seem to have a problem keeping up with the tempo. If anything, you slightly rush in front most of the time. It sounds like you're releasing to the pull offs just a tiny bit too early.. but that's all. You've got the stamina ! biggrin.gif

Really pleased you feel some improvements. When we target underused areas we notice results quite quickly.

GG, I'll say exactly the sae thing to you as Zoom.. you got the stamina goin' on there. Just a little rushed with the timing. If you force them into time it makes those little piggies work harder as well wink.gif Good job, you keep your foot this week !

Hi Sensei, this is my first task, as i have recently arrive to the Bushido. I know that i'm far from the rest of the disciples but i'm gonna do my best.
I couldn't manage the backingtrack available at the lesson so i made my own 'backingtrack-metronome-headsmasher' at 80bpm.
I know the take isn't perfect, but i'm very happy since I have made great improvements in my pull-off technique during this days.

80bpm

P.D: I expect to keep my two feet cause i need them quite often

Welcome to The Temple ! All disciples are welcome to our icy, mountain lair regardless of how far they are on their own personal journey.

Right, on to your take. Very good. You're going to laugh but I'm going to say the same thing to you that I said to Zoom and GrindGuer about their takes. You pull off just a tiny, tiny bit too early which gives the impression of rushing against the beat. Try leaving the finger on a bit longer (it's a fraction, but it does make all the difference). Forcing the fingers to stay in time makes them work harder and get stronger too. I'm glad that you've noticed improvements, that's fantastic.

And yes, your feet are safe smile.gif

Hello Ben, I'm finding this legato stuff to be rather difficult.
But I'm working hard on it everyday.
I'm liking the idea of these deadlines because it gets me to practice harder.

Here's a take at 100 bpm.
I really wanted to record without a light show this week but that shiny pick-guard wanted some attention. smile.gif
(And is that vibrato at the end really as bad as I think it is)

Howdy Moss ! First of all, thank you for your take and secondly, thank you for giving me a brilliant laugh with your humour - I love it laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif

Although I think your trousers stole the attention as they seem to be made of a strange material, strangely enough like moss and lychen from a forest floor. Have you been doing a Rambo and been practising guitar in the woods again ? biggrin.gif

On to the take, I think it was really good. You don't show any signs of having difficulty with legato apart from the occasional timing slips which aren't that bad at all. I'm really pleased.

And that vibrato at the end wasn't as bad as you think it is.. not nearly. I wouldn't have performed it that way, with just finger motion but the actual sound of it was acceptable smile.gif I was expecting an angry bee sound not a wider, controlled vibrato so I was happy with that wink.gif

I'm also pleased that you're finding the weekly time span good for your motivation and morale.. this is just the kind of thing I'm hoping to inspire and it's good to hear smile.gif
