Got this one basically free, so couldn't do anything but accept it, however I can't find much info online and I don't know what model it is really. I know Samick isn't the best of brands as far as I know, but a guitar for free...can't go wrong with that, can you? laugh.gif

It's got a Wilkinson bridge and grover tuners. Don't know what pick ups, but I expect them to have been the cheap kind. Also the tone knob can be pulled up, but I can't really hear any difference.

Well the tone knob pulling up will be a coil tap or coil split. All in all seems like the hardware might be pretty decent. bit of TLC it could be a real player

As Mith says, I think the Tone push/pull will be a coil tap. If I remember correctly I seem to recall that some of the Samick range had Wilkinson Pickups as well as hardware. They also had good build quality compared to other brands in their price range. They were all good for the money. Who can refuse a free Gguitar??

If the hardware is good quality I would use that as confirmation of the quality of the rest of the guitar, that's how it seems to be with Asian guitars, hardware is the first thing they cut costs with.

Besides needing new strings it seems to stay in tune and intonate just fine. Still curious about it though, as I can't find similar models on the internet.

Rare or not, it's apparently just a cheap end Samick SA41. It plays pretty nice though.
