Hello my dear beginner fellows!
I so much loved Muris' One String Work out that I thought it would be useful to do the same exercise but this time in E Aeolian. So I did the BT in Aeolian respecting his degrees, so the chords are Emin, Cmaj, Amin, F#dim and E min again. (Hope I'm right Just repeat the patterns of the original lesson but using the E minor scale. I hope you'll find it useful as I do and hope you like it! As always, thank you Muris and hope you like it too! Cheers, Eddie

Degrees/chords are fine Eddie tho they don't have same roll as in Major version
but you did great job with backing!! You listened my advice to try it this way, now I'm looking forward to some playing over it! -------------------- Youtube

You listened my advice to try it this way, now I'm looking forward to some playing over it! Thank you Muris! I knew I did something wrong, but the exercise sounds good nevertheless on the BT. Remember I'm doing just the 16th note part! For the 16th triplets I'm anxiously waiting for your timing lesson since I really have problems feeling them... I love doing BTs, and I'm learning a lot about chords using a keyboard since it's much easier to "see" intervals. Anyway, I really hope some people might find this BT useful for something Cheers, Eddie |

It's fine backing Eddie and you didn't miss at all,
it just that these chords in minor have different purpose, that's all, but degrees are ok so don't worry. -------------------- Youtube

This thing about purpose is VERY interesting! Really! If you did the same exercise what chords would you have used? What do you mean with purpose? Thank you. Your fan Eddie |

Glad I have some fans here Eddie
Well..purpose...it's actually how chord sounds in specific progression. In E Major we have F# minor as a II and in E minor it's F# dim, difference is obvious. Also interesting spot is VI degree which is relative minor if we are in Major, per example C# minor in E Major while it's C Major in E minor key. Each chord in use has its own purpose,it colors our key/tonality,that's the deal. -------------------- Youtube

Did you miss the previous one? Can I play anything on my BT or do you prefer the lesson? Eddie You can stick with your chords cause you just can't find same solutions for Major and Minor keys. About lead, try lesson in Minor version but also play whatever you like. -------------------- Youtube

Ok, I'll do the first half just like your lesson, in 16th notes, second half I'll try to do something of my own. Thank you, and have a great time. Cheers, Eddie |

I did a little recording over my aeolian BT. I know there are lots of timing problems, (that's why I asked for the timing lesson! but in the second part there are a few bends I really liked! And I also tried some tapping!!! So here's my little recording over my BT inspired by your one string lesson. Hope you like it. Cheers and thank you always. Eddie

Yep,Eddie is our master backing track builder. Thanks! I love doing BTs and using a master keyboard has helped me a lot with basic harmony concepts. Learning how to do them is quite easy at this level. The important thing is to have original software! You get an owner's manual and you can go to your music shop and ask whatever you like,(I did that for audio and MIDI setups) which makes basic operations very easy and fast to learn. Same thing with VSTs of which I have very few. Cheers |
