You can use the demo of addictive drum as VST plugin in your DAW.

You can download Addictive Drums demo version! Keep in mind that they are VST so you need a DAW software to run them , like Cubase or Reaper

I am using it on Linux, but I see they've got a beta Windows installer..

QUOTE ("Steve Vai")
Start by playing something - a bend, a riff, a scale, a song - very slowly; if you make a mistake, start over; do this over and over, until you can play it flawlessly - and I do mean flawlessly - many times in a row. Next, gradually increase the tempo. Eventually you'll be flailing like a madman.

Yeah you can "play" simple beats on them...But I would suggest laying down one of preset drum tracks that resembles what you imagine and than editing that midi track to fit your idea (you can use mouse for that easily too).. smile.gif

You open the MIDI track in reaper, and open the plugin in Reaper as well. Then you assign Addictive Drums plugin to that MIDI track.
When you do that, choose the groove you like and drag&drop it to MIDI track so you can layout some grooves.
Keyboard is good, but not very useful for drums IMO.
