Ok i tried putting my maxon OD808 infront of my m-audio fast track USB so thats means:
guitar>maxon 0d808>m-audio fastrack>computer>guitar rig 3 And it sounded pretty good... it actualy worked as if it was overdriving the simulated amp! Anyone know if this is safe? -------------------- |

It is when using an od in front of a Pod, so I guess it's safe with Guitar rig...

ITs safe to use and in theory it should sound like you're using those effects with a real amp (which Guitar Rig 3 is simulating in your case)...

Think i could use my other effects from my tc g-major? Sure why not, but the problem is getting those effects after the guitar rig modeling, cause you would put some after the amp. This means that you have to use some kind of a send/return IO setup on the fasttrack if it has several inputs and outputs. Routing would be tricky as well. BTW, effects in GR3 are cool, why would you insert G major in the chain anyway? -------------------- - Ivan's Video Chat Lesson Notes HERE

That's perfectly safe as long is input doesn't go into peak,
and as for TC effects, yeah, you can use those as well but some of effects don't work so great BEFORE preamp section, which is GR3 in this case, try tho, see what's gonna happen. -------------------- Youtube

What does this mean? Means that you don't send too loud signal to your PC from pedal, peak is usually just another word for clipping. I'm saying this cause imo tone from the pedal cannot hurt your PC nor GR3 tone wise, it's just matter of pedal output and/or PC input. -------------------- Youtube

how can you tell if they clip? There has to be some indicator on your audio card input, red light most likely goes on if there's a clipping. Another way is to set GP3 input to 0 and watch what's happening on meter, if it hits reds then lower the volume. -------------------- Youtube

I agree with Muris, as long as you don't senda too high signal into your computer everything should work perfectly fine. I am using GR3 myself, but I have to admit that I never tried any pedal with it, so far I was always able to get the sounds that I wanted with GR3

Your hardware will be fine with any signal that has not been through an amplifier.

Are you talking about the sound or hardware, It can not damage hardware, can it? Well I never heard that someone burned his audio card with too high signal but its theoreticaly possible yeah, you just have to send tons of signal and you're set to go. -------------------- Youtube
