Check out this series on pentatonics : http://www.guitarmasterclass.net/solo-guit...ming-exercises/
It will help you to learn how to improvise. Also try to cover some theory - here you can find Andrews theory lessons : http://www.guitarmasterclass.net/guitar_fo...t=0&start=0 Choose a technique you want to focus on (AP,legato, bending, vibrato) and then search for lessons covering that technique on GMC. Also learning famous songs is a good idea : http://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/red_ho...i_peppers_snow/ http://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/ozzy-o...ne-crazy-train/ Once you study the "lead improvisation" lessons and their theory concepts you will learn how to connect chords and melodies. -------------------- Need to ask about anything GMC related? Send me a pm
Check out my lessons and my instructor board. Take a bass course now! My solo and band songs : Keep Going On, Susret, Plava Silueta |

thats a weird tuning!
but think of it this way droping E-> D is droping the note 2 frets so picture a normal chord like this one: --------9---- --------9---- thats how a B looks in standard tuning --------7--- because you moved the low E to D, that same chord becomes: ------9 ------9 ------9 why? because now the guitar is tuned 2 frets down (or 1 whole step) think of everything moving 2 steps up so for example: this E --2-- --2-- --0-- will turn into this --2 --2 --2 so apply this method to the the tuning you suggested above to normal chord patterns scales stay the same to the chord, just make sure you know what chord is what -------------------- - Marc

It would be a great idea to include "famous songs" on the LESSON SERIES and encourage more teachers to upload a "cover" of a well known tune. -------------------- "It's a long way to the top..."

Don Ross has a pair of DVDs where he explains that tuning among others and they way to think chords and some "tricks" to explore that kind of alternate tunings.
On the other hand if you know the scales on the regular tuning is not that hard to pass the scales to this new tuning. You have to think in terms of notes and not shapes (you always have to do that although you play on regular tuning). Let me know if this helped -------------------- |
