Mhskeide - Slap And Pop Grooving |
|
Here is where the magic happens: the REC board turns bedroom guitarists into real pros. Remember - it doesn't matter if you fail or pass, as long as you keep posting REC takes you will progress.
The entries will be graded by a number of instructors. After grading, members will be accredited with the appropriate points if they pass, and adjustments will be made to their REC level.
Passing grade is 6 or higher.

Rhythm placement: 4.8
Cleanness: 4.8 Feel: 4.8 Posture: 5 Sound: 4.5 Very, very nice!! Just stay more with the groove and fix those pops on D string, G strings as ok imo but D string could be better pops wise. -------------------- Youtube

Rhythm placement: 4
Cleanness: 5 Feel: 5 Posture: 5 Sound: 4 Very good take on a hard lesson! Regarding rhythm placement you were loosing time on several licks and I can see that this tempo is a little too fast and you are struggling to keep up. But you are close, a little more metronome practice will do the trick. I can see that your "left hand slapping" technique is slowing you down. Check out my "Slap Bass Exercises 2" lesson as it focuses exactly on that technique. I like your feel and posture in this one, good job there! Regarding slap sound, you could have done better. Slap is hard do dial in right but you have a cool bass for slap. Use equal mix of both pickups and add some bass and treble on the bass. For slap you want a scooped sound, so you can experiment with killing some mids on that MXR Pedal and/or on bass. You want lots of bass and treble in the sound to get it powerful and snappy. Also strings are probably a little dead, try wiping them with GHS Fastfret and leaving it over night (without wiping excess after you apply the cleaning agent!!!). You should be able to restore new strings sound which is great for slap. Rhythm placement 4.3
Cleanness 5 Feel 5 Posture 4.9 Sound 4.6 Great take, but I think timing should be better. Take it easy, and increase tempo gradually when practicing. -------------------- - Ivan's Video Chat Lesson Notes HERE
