Hey mates
What do you think? Would you like to use a wireless unit for your guitar instead of a cable? Or do you think that cables are offering better qualty - if yes, what kind of cables are you using and why? Can you feel a difference between different brands? -------------------- My music:

I'm thinking about getting a wireless. Heard good things about G30 system from Line 6: http://line6.com/relay/
I just hate all the cable on stage and in home. Though I also hate changing batteries so I'm not sure how good the wireless option is... But for on stage operation - it should make all the difference. -------------------- Need to ask about anything GMC related? Send me a pm

I've always been with cabling.. but...
Recently on stage... I sorta stepped backwards and straight onto my cable... (I got lazy and didn't loop the cable around my strap)... didn't realize a screw was loose on my input.. and BAM out comes the cable, and the whole input port :$... lol... I fixed it.. by having the screws just pressed in.. haha I stood VERY still for the rest of the time we were playing... when I got home I screwed new (GIANT) screws in... cause I had stripped the threading from the old little screws .. lol... so yeah from me.. I wanna go wireless... for THAT reason -------------------- ![]() ![]() |

In my experience( and my ex girlfriend's father who played for Yes and currently plays in Yoso), cheaper wireless systems kill guitar tone. I am not sure of the exact price range of a good one, but I can tell you it is definitely above the 500 USD range. I bought one and was entirely unhappy with it. If you are like me and tone matters a great deal, then this may not be the best option(it certainly isn't the most affordable).
Check out the Snap Jack by ZZYZX before you set out on finding the right wireless unit. It has a magnetic lead so you can not only switch between instruments easily, but so if you do have a situation like CathShadow, it just disconnects, rather than damaging your guitar/input jack. Hope this helped. This post has been edited by Nihilist1: Sep 2 2011, 08:03 PM -------------------- All the elders have fallen down...

I wouldn't mind against a good wireless system, but they are too expensive, and I don't play big stages all the time. It's a nice thing to have, but then again, for that much money, so is dual monitor setup with excellent GPU unit, or decent pair of audio monitors..
PS I use Ki-Sound 5m cables for live, and shorter ones for home recording. This post has been edited by Ivan Milenkovic: Sep 2 2011, 09:21 PM -------------------- - Ivan's Video Chat Lesson Notes HERE

A friend that I used to jam with uses George L's. He equipped his entire pedalboard with them and he got most, if not all of his tone back(his favourite player is Tom Morello, so he uses a lot of effects). I am still searching for the cables I prefer myself, but it will have to wait until after I buy an Orange Rocker 30 head.

I love wireless! for the convenience but I think cables do carry out the signal better

Some of the bands I listen use wireless on stage so they can go crazy. There was once I saw a band play and the lead singer was stretching his cable to almost the max - not looped around strap - I was cringing and hoping he wouldn't lose the cable, but he was watching it. I guess it all depends on what you wanna do - but yeah, a cable is much more reliable.
