The GMC Recognition Program (REC)
Welcome to our 3 step program towards progress! ![]() ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Here is how the program works, everyone can do it regardless of skill and the results are always positive : 1. RECORD - Practice a GMC lesson that you like. - Download the backing track. - Record a video of your playing along the backing track. 2. UPLOAD - Upload the video of your playing to Youtube. - Click on the "post your take" button, paste the Youtube video link and push the "Submit REC Thread" button. 3. MAKE PROGRESS Your REC take will appear in this board. Instructors will grade your submission and give you valuable feedback on your playing. Recording yourself has proven to be the best way towards progress. Not only that you need to practice hard to record the video, but you will have a clear picture of your progress by watching videos you made in the past. Shooting the video will give you a totally new perspective on your playing and with the help of GMC instructors you will easily identify areas you need to work on to become a great guitar player. YES - it is that EASY. Go for it!

This is so great! Many will benefit from this. There should be an award for the most posted recs, not only for the best students. Because it's good that they are encouraged to show their weak spots too. Just an idea.

Hey guys,
I LOVE the fact that GMC is promoting it's REC program so much. To my humble opinion, this is absolutely a SUPERGREAT tool to become a better player!!! I can only speak for myself ofcourse, but as I became member of GMC, I immediately started posting REC takes. I learned so much from the good and the bad comments I received from the instructors. OK, it's true, it's very confrontational and sometimes we think we are doing something very well while it actually ... sucks. But that's the whole idea behind the REC program : open yourself and show yourself to people who know what they're talking about and let them guide you to improvement. Where else on earth can you find, not only one, but more than 10 professional, very talented, guitarplayers who are there to help you, judge you and inspire you to become better????? So, ... stop fooling around, get serious and join REC. I'm nobody, but REC did a lot for me and I just wanted to share that. Good luck, Nico -------------------- Experienced Tone Seeker

Hey everyone its the new guy, AK Rich.... With POD Farm you can use Reaper to record your audio - or even Audacity. Audacity is simpler, but Reaper is better. You'll want to hook up your interface first, open Reaper or Audacity, and select Digital Audio Interface (yours may say something slightly different) as your recording input. You might see ASIO as well, and that has low latency, and you can use that. I use it in Reaper. It seems to work just fine too. I use my iHome as my P.A. since a guitar amp does not work. Anybody want to add anything to that? -Brandon Hey everybody, I'm wanting to record some RECs very soon. I've been practicing. I just put 9s on my solo guitar. My 10s were killing my fingers. Just a matter of time now and I'll post some. -------------------- ![]() Facebook Band Page Official YouTube Channel My Three Year Guitar Evolution Subscribe to my other YouTube Sample my projects on SoundCloud Find exclusive material at my Blogspot My success is all because of God. |

Hey everyone its the new guy, AK Rich.... Hi Rich, Here you can find some information about video recording in general : http://www.guitarmasterclass.net/guitar_fo...p?showforum=171 I would suggest that you start a new topic here in the practice room where you would list your audio/video gear and exact things you would like to do (REC, Collabs). I'm sure everyone will be glad to help you out make your first recording. -------------------- Need to ask about anything GMC related? Send me a pm

I can only get camera to come in at 15 bps and it seems like the video recording gets off a little with the music. I have Abelton Live that I use for recording and an M-Audio FireWire Solo for input from guitar. It looks like I can set Vegas to get input from the M-Audio unit ok, but then not sure how to work it with backing track and so forth! Going through tutorials but feel a bit overwhelmed. |

Basically I am going to have to round up some things before I can get started, The webcam that I do have is pretty dated for one, anyway sorry if I posted in the wrong place , I saw the other thread today as well on "how to make and record video: First steps" So I will be studying up on that and start a new post in the practice room if I have some new questions that are'nt adressed in these threads or If I run into any problems. Thanks again , Rich...... -------------------- ![]() |

New(er) to this site (just over a month), and I just found the "REC" program today. Sounds like a really great tool, and I'm excited to send in my first one soon. So far, I've really been honing in on this riff for the last few days (http://www.guitarmasterclass.net/solo-guitar/country-picking-advanced/) but I can't get it up to "Muris-Speed" (aka: 155bpm!!) quite yet!!
I'll try and upload my first vid tomorrow, since it's my day off. I'm kind of an audio-video idiot, so I'm hoping I can get it figured out easily enough. In fact, I'm simply hoping to submit a "live" take, as opposed to having to mix and edit the sound and such. I know I can get a good enough mix that way, but obviously it's not "GMC Instructor" quality!! I'll post my results here perhaps. Thanks GMC!! This site and community is great! I hope to see it expand (although, hopefully not the price!) over the next few years, as I hopefully find more time to get involved here, as opposed to just watching lesson vids as I've been doing thus far. -------------------- ![]() ![]() Check out my awesome Nintendo Cover-band, EMULATOR!! http://www.reverbnation.com/emulator Now.....go practice!! |
