In today's video chat session I received a very interesting question: 'what's the difference between swing and shuffle?' I thought it wa sa very very good question which deserves a thorough answer, so here's what I found for you guys!

When jazz performer Cootie Williams was asked to define it, he joked: "Define it? I'd rather tackle Einstein's theory!"Tommy Dorsey's explanation was pretty good too. Swing is definitely a thing which you must feel rather than try to explain
 glad that the greats feel the same

Yeah I still don't really know how to explain those terms !
 I usually call any mid tempo 6/8 rhythm a shuffle.. but that's about it. Swing ? I have no idea !!

I think it's happening each time you manage to play like an african-american man, even if you are caucasian

Very interesting, thanks for this piece of history mate
I never looked it that way, I always thought swing is the same as shuffle, shuffled rhythm basically, but this broadens up my views. Cool
