Ben Higgins sent me a nice welcome & suggested I introduce myself. I was in a band in high school & we played a few local shows. We had a pretty good following & were a good band but not necessarily good musicians. My playing was fair at the time & I am now getting back into playing after a 20 year break. I forgot how hard this thing was to learn & play.
My main influences are (in no particular order) Hendrix, Randy Rhoads, Zakk Wylde, George Lynch, Tony Iommi, Dimebag Darrel, all Megadeth guitarists. My main band influences are Megadeth, Slayer (great rhythm, wish leads were better), Black Sabbath, 80's metal, old Metallica, Pantera, Iron Maiden. I hope to learn a lot here. |

Hi again Carlo, great welcome post... you have some brilliant influences - we shall have fun molding you into a metal guitar god !!!
I would suggest setting some small goals for yourself.. ones that are achievable. That way, you can make definite progress and keep motivated.. motivation is the key. If you always strive to keep things enjoyable then you'll always want to keep doing it ! You like metal.. if you're getting back to the guitar after a long break then pick a few areas where you would like to improve. I suggest looking at palm muting - a very crucial ingredient in metal music. Perhaps pick a lesson or two from the site.. all of my comrades and myself have some riff heavy stuff in our lesson repertoire. You can also search and find other brilliant lessons.. also check out Zsolt Galambos and Lian Gerbino too, they've got plenty of metallic material that will hone your skills. Down picking and alternate picking are important elements as well, so anything that works on those areas is recommended. -------------------- |

Welcome aboard man, glad you joined! Right now I'm getting my gear together, listening to lessons online. Basically doing some homework first. I just got an amp off of Cragislist yesterday. Then I broke the saddle unit while changing my strings. |
