Hi, my name is Sergio, 33yo I'm from Monterrey, Mexico and I've been living in Guadalajara for the past 3yrs.
I've been playing guitar on and off since I was 14 and I like to jump to the next step cause I kinda didn't when I had more time. I don't play in a band right now, but I have played with different bands from Punk Rock, Nu Metal, Classic Rock and Cover Bands. I have 2 Electric Guitars: a Jackson Dinky DK2 and an Epiphone Les Paul Standard Plain Top Now lets talk about my background. I consider myself a little more than average for playing rhythmic guitar and average for intermediate metal riffs. What I absolutely don't have is the ability to play solos, I think this is because the music I use to hear when I started playing, also cause in the bands I played all them already had a lead guitarist and I was more pumped about playing rhythms. But now I'm ready to do it, it's never late right I'm starting with hand sync exercises and some intermediate level blues licks, I already started with this one http://www.guitarmasterclass.net/solo-guitar/blues-licks1/ last night and it went pretty well, I managed to do it in about 2 hours. My plans are to practice 2 or 3 hours a day. I'll be very very happy if you have any recommendation for me to start with and looking forward to meeting you here on the forums. Gracias |

Hello Sergio ! Welcome to the community
It's brilliant that you've already started working on some lessons. If it went well, then more of a similar style will help too. I recommend working on things which include string bending so try putting 'string bending' or bends' in the search bar and see what you find.. A little further along I would eventually start working on vibrato too. For now though, some basic solos that use string bending and different licks and rhythms will be the right thing -------------------- |
