What's your least favourite physical exercise ?

Do you hate the idea of lifting weights or does the idea of running make you tremble ?

For me, I don't enjoy cardiovascular exercise at all. I can't stand the feeling of being out of breath and burning lungs. I don't mind weights, punch bag etc but I don't like that feeling of 'just about to drop' and feeling sick.

How about you guys ?

I'm not a huge fan of cardio either, but I do it like 5-6 times a week at the moment to lose that gut laugh.gif
I love running outside, and I actually love burning lungs and stuff. But cardio indoors is sooo boring...

Rowing 500 meters in 1½ minute made me sick for 1½ hour...

I was working out sunday, monday, tuesday and wednesday this week. Today I guess I'll take a break.
I ran two marathons in april and may, but then I almost haven't done any running since only 3 km.
Yesterday I ran 5 km, it was really tough, I almost stopped at 2.5 km, but somehow persuaded myself to go on.
So I really have a hard time running longer distances right now, without a real goal like a marathon up ahead.

I think what I really couldn't do is a spinning lesson, with some crazy instructor yelling at me, I'd tell him to shot the hell up and turn down that techno music he likes so much. I didn't join any army, I'm not used to getting yelled at, and I think I'm able to motivate myself.

My least favorite is "all of the above" at the moment! Generally I find lifting weights tedious. I usually strain a muscle before I can flex anything impressive anyway rolleyes.gif I do enjoy running outdoors with some good music in the headphones.

I love lifting weights. I like using a cross trainer for cardio (I can't run due to really bad fallen arches) I hate Rowing machines

I've got flat feet too. Didn't know about it either until about 2 years ago. The one time I started trying to jog, which was about 5 years ago, I hurt my knee.. the dodgy feet would explain why dry.gif

I love running, especially when the weather is nice (spring). The feeling after a cardio excersise is great for me, I feel tired and exausted but also healthy, strong and proud of myself!

On the contrary, I find lifting weights boring biggrin.gif I never managed to develop weight-lifting habit. They lay here, in my room for years but I never use them. The same goes for push-ups, sit-ups... Sometimes I do pull-ups on a pull-up bar but it gets boring after a while too, and I feel demotivated when I don't practice for a month and have to re-gain all the strength! I guess guitar playing is much more interesting so I do it more often tongue.gif

Two years ago I used to practice "tricking". It is basically free-running without the "running" part tongue.gif It consists of doing tricks like fancy kicks, flips, sommersaults, aerials (cartwheel without using hands - Jackie Chan often did this in his movies), B-kick (borrowed from Wushu, looks a bit gay but is still awesome), kip-up etc. The problem was there was nobody to do it with me, and it's hard to stay motivated alone, not to mention the high self-awareness level when you do that in public parks ohmy.gif So I quit sad.gif But I'd love to get back to it once again!

I'm the sort of very active individual - I love running, swimming, lifting weights and I'm sure that if this damn time would finally allow it, I WOULD love Iaido training (yes, Ben, if you were wondering, I didn't get to start the training sessions unfortunately sad.gif)

I am very comfortable with the idea that I can use my body to do almost anything from jumping, running, defending myself and helping others, so that is why I am trying to keep it fit. I tend to transform any somewhat boring activity - I dislike working out my feet at the gym laugh.gif for instance - not as fun as working out chest or biceps biggrin.gif - by always having company. We're a bunch of guys at the gym, from different bands and we enjoy our training sessions a lot, because while working out we share ideas, stories and all sort of music related stuff smile.gif

I totally recommend making up a group for your training sessions for three main reasons:

1) THERE will always be an invisible sense of competition, which is healthy smile.gif it'll push you further and further
2) At least ONE of the guys knows stuff about the activity and he will teach the others
3) IT NEVER EVER gets boring biggrin.gif

Yeah that's the sort of way I would like to work out at a gym, with other people who know what they're doing.

That's a shame you don't have the time for Iaido yet.. but there's probably a reason for that. I'm sure it will happen when the time is right smile.gif

But remember, you get the same 24hrs in a day as Richard Branson, Bill Gates, Bruce Lee or Bruce Dickinson. When you make powerful desicions, time works around you ! smile.gif
