Well a little further down the board there is a thread about the chance for a new guitar for me...
http://www.guitarmasterclass.net/guitar_fo...?showtopic=4236 And I got it, my God it's nice! As I stated in the thread, I have never used EMG's before, nor active pick-ups and I have a few questions... I practice on a Marshal AVT275 amp and use a Marshall GV2 distortion peddle, has anyone any advice on how to get the best and crispest distortion that picks up pinches and sweeps well without the fuzz from stupidly high gain? Can I safely use the distortion peddle on an overdrive channel with an active pick up? I have my practice rig perfectly set up with my Seymours but the added gain from the EMG-81's is making it difficult for me to keep it 'clean and scream'... Any other advise that comes to mind from people please post! -------------------- www.myspace.com/idkillyouformyself Guitars: Jackson RR1 Snow w/ black pin stripes -Duncan Jackson KE2 Emerald Green -Duncan Jackson Soloist SL1 Lightning sky -Duncan ESP M-II Urban Camo -EMG Amps: Practice Marshall MS4 and Marshall AVTX 275 Gig Marshall AVTX 112 412xA and 412xB Pedals: Marshall Guv'nor 2 and JH-1 |

Off topic.
I think the word you are going for 'peddle' is pedal. I don't mean to be a prude, but it's something you can know for the future About your question I unfortunately can't answer that. Gosh I feel like a prude. P.S if that guitar you got is the Camo one, it looks bloody awesome dude! congrats This post has been edited by Hemlok: May 31 2007, 03:20 PM -------------------- ![]() |

If I had a guitar with the active EMG's I'd definitly try the 18 volt mod.
It's supposed to make ALL the difference. You connect an extra 9V battery in series. -------------------- Amps Hughes & Kettner Switchblade 100W head, Peavey Classic 30 Tweed combo, Blackstar HT5 head, Vox AC4TV
412 Fame cabinet with Celestion Vintage 30's, 412 Marshall cabinet with G12T75 speakers, Line6 POD X3 Live, Blackstar 1x10 Guitars: Ibanez RG320FM - Charvel unknown with DiMarzio Breed (only neck, bridge is empty for now. Breed to come as soon as I know which singlecoil to put in the middle) - Squier Stratocaster - Epiphone LP standard with DiMarzio Super distortion (bridge) + original bridge pu (neck) Wishlist some sleep and a life, in that order All time favourites: B. Streisand - Woman in Love, M. Hopkin - Those were the days, L. Richie - Hello Guitarbuilding blog |

Yeah, its the Urban Camo I got, looks awesome and has a great vulgar modern look in comparison to my RR1 and KE2. ...As for the 18v mod, already whipped that in, awesome EMG added this versatility for phantom powering! The guitar sounds awesome, I'm just trying to get that clean metal crunch and scream without the fuzz from the overdrive. I think the problem is the EMG's not liking the pedal+overdrive channel as I have no problem achieving this on my 3 guitars with combinations of passive Duncans. -------------------- www.myspace.com/idkillyouformyself Guitars: Jackson RR1 Snow w/ black pin stripes -Duncan Jackson KE2 Emerald Green -Duncan Jackson Soloist SL1 Lightning sky -Duncan ESP M-II Urban Camo -EMG Amps: Practice Marshall MS4 and Marshall AVTX 275 Gig Marshall AVTX 112 412xA and 412xB Pedals: Marshall Guv'nor 2 and JH-1 |
