My Youtube account, FrontlineGuitar, has just been monetized!
 Basically, for every time someone clicks on an advert in my video, I get paid a very very small amount  I won't make very much at all, but still it's good to have an extra couple of pounds every month haha  It's only really if you get a very popular video that you start to make a pretty noticeable sum, which makes me wonder how much all the big Youtubers are making for every video they put up, getting millions of views  So guys, what are your thoughts on the whole advertising program on YouTube? I can guess a good number of you may have become monetized, or been made a partner at some point as well. I haven't been made a partner and got all the cool little features that come with it, like a custom thumbnail for each video, or a custom subscribe button, but still, it's a pretty big step for me  -------------------- "I don't know where I'm going until I get there" "Something that isn't a strong point, is a weak point" Subscribe to my Youtube account! :) |

However, on my videos I got pretty positive reactions from everyone, quite a few likes etc, but I doubt that accounted for all of it at all. One thing that I personally think might be to do with it is that my Youtube I noticed was suddenly becoming a lot more popular than it was before. Like, more people were commenting and more people were subscribing than before all of a sudden. And, I went from 50 to 100 subscribers pretty rapidly, and I still don't know why this was, whether I suddenly appeared on the related videos or not I don't know, but I know my most popular video was put up at the start of that, which was a fairly simple lesson I did, and that got views pretty quickly. But basically, my theory is that Youtube might just suddenly notice people who are growing subscribers and views all of a sudden compared to what they had before. Because, I still don't have many views, but compared to what I did have, I have like 3x as many! Just one day, a little blue banner appeared at the top saying that my account was available for monetization, and that was it, really. There weren't any figures that you had to meet or anything. Hope that helped somewhat, even if it is a little vague

That's cool, man! I once got that notification on an intro video I made on my first youtube account, but I didn't apply because the background was something I pulled from a video royalty free video site. They said you have to own everything in the video...I wasn't sure if I qualified. I hope to start making money some day with my new artist channel.

I'm not sure what would happen with the background, but you can choose what videos you want to monetize, and it is only the videos you monetize that you have to own the copyrights for Either that or get the permission of someone who does I'm sure on your original songs you could make a bit of money though on your main account

CONGRATS! Like we talked about in video chat today, being a yotube partner has great perks
One of the big benefits is that you have crossed over the "Impossible Threshold of Discovery" as it's called and have enough subscribers to merit being a partner. Now that you have a core group, grow it! You can use your youtube channel and your sub/view count when you go to various vendors/builders/etc. and ask for Endorsement deals. It's how I got pretty much all of mine. Being a legitimate eyeball magnate has real value and companies will often send you some free stuff, and sometimes a contract to sign if you agree to use their gear and talk about it during videos.
