Hey guys! I had the idea to start a thread about bands where play sons of famous musicians. I created a thread sharing the band of Bruce Dickinson's song. Let's share some other ones!
and I would also like to know, do you think that having a famous musician father (or mother) is an advantage or or them? Austin Dickinson (Bruce Dickinson's Son) e ar Lauren Harris (Steve Harris Daghter) -------------------- Visit my Personal Board

I am currently working on a project with Nicko McBrains son. He is also an excellent drummer. As for his dad? They don't get on, Nicko Jr doesn't have much to do with his dad any more.

Jason Bonham, son of John Bonham:
Dweezil Zappa son of Frank Zappa: I think that if your father is a famous musician you have certain advantage over other people with the same talent as you, but you will be always below more talented players, and probably below your father's shadow P.D: It's funny, most of the times sons of guitar players are guitar players, sons of drummers are drummers, etc... Lauren Harris' current project is actually Six Hour Sundown, although there are a lot of similarities:

I know Nicholas Cage isn't a musician, but his son, Weston Coppola Cage, is the singer for Symphonic Black Metal Band Eyes of Noctum.
Sidenote: Nicholas Cage's ex-wife is now married to Shagrath (Stian Tomt Thoresen), the singer for Dimmu Borgir. -------------------- All the elders have fallen down...

Wow that's cool. Please do keep us informed and maybe introduce him to us in the forum! And the rest of the band for that matter! Got any vids/clips/tunes to share? Sidenote: Nicholas Cage's ex-wife is now married to Shagrath (Stian Tomt Thoresen), the singer for Dimmu Borgir. Double Wow, also very cool. Had no idea about any of that. And nik cages ex married to Shagrath? Must be quite a gal! Thanks for the info! -------------------- VIDEO CHAT LESSON SATURDAY & SUNDAY!

I will definitely keep you all up to date with what's going on. At the moment w're just trying to define a direction to take and then start writing so as yet no clips of any kind. I will post as soon as we have some as another friend wants to document it for a college project they're working on! -------------------- aka The Lone Drifter, why? Because he says so, that's why!!

I think it can be hard for the children of famous musicians to carve out their own reputation without forever being called 'xxx's son or xxx's daughter'. If they can manage to do that, though, then that's the best thing.
I hate nepotism, though, in any shape or form. People can see right through it and it can make it hard for people to take them seriously. Yeah, did you see that video clip of him trying to attack his personal trainer in the street and then get his butt kicked by him ? Apparently it was because the trainer wouldn't let him go into a fast food restaurant. That second piece of info is a surprise, though ! I also find it curious how all these non conformist black metal guys succumb to the Christian ceremony of marriage. I don't think marriage is a bad thing, I'm just saying it's curious how they all do it. -------------------- |

A couple more... Leonard Cohen's son Adam and Jakob Dylan...
I'm thinking that being the offspring of a famous musician would make things much easier in that contacts, exposure and money are probably not a problem. Depending on the person there might be a lot more pressure if that person is trying to do as well or outshine the parent(s). If they don't care and are just doing their thing then I can't see the money, contacts and exposure being anything other than a benefit. Seems pretty obvious to me that Jakob is doing his own thing. He will probably never be as well known as his father but he is an excellent musician in his own right. So is Adam, however he seems to be trying to imitate his father. I don't think he'll go too far doing that personally but you never know (Hank Williams Jr. anyone?) |

When we started with Cirse, we didn't have any important musical contact so everything took much more time. -------------------- Visit my Personal Board
