 Problem With My Bridge Pickup. Help Me! |

My bridge pick-up has just lose 80% percent of his volume, when I use a heavy distorsion on my ampli the sound that come out is almost clean. When i switch to neck pickup all is right (decent distorted sound). I had a gig yesterday night and all was fine... Do you think i should try to remove my pickup to see if some wire has displaced? thanks for the help!

probably need a new pick up selector switch , dust in the volume control (maybe), could be a wire as well
if you have never done that before , don't risk it, let a pro fix it p..s. fiddle around with your selector switch to see if it does it This post has been edited by jstcrsn: Apr 30 2012, 12:58 PM |

Thanks you're right, the problem is in the switch... i've tried to pushand pull several times and know it works, i think i need to take it to someone to fix the internal cables...

This is happened to me a few times, usually with neck pickups. Wiggling the selector back and forth does usually wake things up but yeah, get it cleaned out properly by someone

I have a Gibson faded Flying V that I have this exact same problem with, and I had the toggle switch replaced by a guitar tech and it did fix it for a few weeks then it started acting up again, So I'm looking around for a new tech to replace the wiring and maybe the pick up as well. -------------------- My Sound Cloud Profile: http://soundcloud.com/casinostrat

Could be a few things: - One of the cables got loose - Need a new switch - Need to rewire your guitar I think the best solution will be to give it to a technician who can fix it and make it right! -------------------- |

If its the switch just give it a blast with WD40 or any other penetrating oil

I ran down to the local electronic store picked up DeoxIT. Took the caps off the pots and dripped some of it on there let it set and then came back did a quick spray and turned them back and forth/flick to get it to break up dirt. But I agree with a lot of people here, if its an older guitar or something you don't want to take a chance with anything happening. Take it to a tech have him rewire it all up get new pots/switch also. That way all your guts are new and will have the best connection possible. If there is an issue after that maybe look into replacing pickups. -------------------- Guitar:

It's an Ibanez Iceman, but i don't want to take the chance that my bridge pickup doesn't work during a gig... I play power metal, can you figure out a power metal gig played all with neck pickup??
 Now it seems it work, but I must take it to someone to check the switch or the cable!
